Remarks :

Pursuing M.Tech was my first choice after B.Tech instead of going for the job. Initially, I had no preference for college but after my score on the GATE exam, I decided I would go for an IIT. After COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) registration process and counseling, I got admission to IIT Kharagpur. I also sat for an interview round conducted by the officials of the campus. My entire admission process was done online due to covid.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Till now, the course structure seems to be pretty great. Subjects taught to us are in detail and cover all the aspects. Class size is kept uniform for all the courses to ensure efficient and productive teaching/learning. I have attended all the lectures till now in an online mode and our professors made sure that we have a fun and interactive lecture every time. All the professors are highly educated and gold medalists in their respective fields.

Course Fees : INR 232000 per year

Placement Experience :

Placements of an IIT are always great. It is the first destination of some multi-national companies for recruitment. Our previous batch observed 1600 placement offers being made to the students including 35 international offers. Highest CTC went to Rs. 2.4 CPA. Sectors like software, Analytics, Consulting, Core Analytics, banking, finance made job offers. Barclay, Goldman Sachs, Honeywell, Microsoft, MasterCard, Dr. Reddy, Tata Steel, and many such others participated in the week.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

IIT-KGP is here to support you in case you are willing to finance your education yourself. Banking assistance, Alumni funded scholarship, merit-cum-means scholarship is offered to the students. Rs. 4.43 lakhs is the cost of the fee for this particular course. I applied and got selected for a merit scholarship. If you are looking for a bank loan, IIT also helps in suggesting you the same.

Campus Life :

I have not enjoyed even a single part of campus life as the campus was closed due to the pandemic. Soon, I will be visiting and staying on campus. I have heard a lot of stories and happenings about the events on campus last year. Kshitij - the annual techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur is one of the biggest hits every time. Illumination is a festival unique to IIT. It is held as a competition among students.

Placement Experience:

For master's, campus placement is less compared to bachelor's courses, Company visited less in numbers, but still, 30 - 40 percent of students get placed, some went for Ph.D. in IIT, and some got placed off campus. On-campus placement average package is around 4 lacs.

Remarks:

Before joining Mtech in Computer Science and Data Processing (Mathematics department) in IIT Kharagpur I completed M.Sc in Mathematics from IIT Madras. At that time wanted to go for industry jobs so I decided to pursue M.Tech course related to computer science. Specifically, I am interested in Machine learning and statistical data analysis. That time I had two options either IIT Madras (Mtech in Industrial mathematics and scientific computing) or IIT Kharagpur (Mtech in CSDP). I preferred IIT Kgp and joined it.

Entrance Preview:

I take WBJEE entrance exam for entrance in BE and gate for ME. I score 107 in WBJEE and 2047 in GATE . Jadavpur university(ju)is best institution in west bengal.

Placement Experience:

In JU placements was almost 100% in BE course on my electronics & telecom department 55 were placed out of 58. And some of them got 3 jobs in hand,some of them got 2 jobs.and in ME 17 are placed out of 23.companies are tcs, cts, ibm, infosys, ericsson, adobe, ibm r&d, wipro, capgemini etc.
