IIT Madras Experience

Remarks :

IIT Madras is the best engineering college in India. Since 2016 IIT Madras has gained a no-1 spot for the best engineering college in India. I cleared my GATE exam with good marks and I applied for admission to IIT Madras through COAP counselling. I did not apply for any kind of scholarship. I decided to opt for IIT Madras because the college is best in engineering and the placement is superb and the educational standards are very high.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum of the program is one of the best and the standards are very high. The curriculum matches the international standards. The curriculum gives us a complete insight into circuits, the importance of integrated circuits and how to develop the circuits and their impact on industrial development. The curriculum gives an ample opportunity for research work.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship is mandatory and we are eligible for the internship after completing the first year of our program. Around 35+ companies visit our campus for the internship program and to take part in the internship program we have to register our names with the placement committee. The average stipend for internships is around Rs. 95000/-.

Placement Experience :

You cannot doubt the placement of IIT Madras. The college provides one of the best placements for us and the college has a record of 100% placement. Few of my batchmates received the pre-placement offers during the internship program. The efforts of the placement committee are really superb we have to register our names with the placement committee for placement. The placement committee makes sure that every one of us is properly placed. The highest package for our batch was around 78 LPA and the average package was around 22.50 LPA. Around more than 75+ companies visited our campus for the college placement drive.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The complete average college fee is around 5 lakh which is very affordable in comparison to other top-quality colleges in India. The return on investment of our college is one of the best in comparison to college program fees. The scholarship is available on a merit basis and a scholarship for SC/ST/PWD is also available. The course fee of SC/ST is comparatively low as compared to the general category. The college provides scholarships through more than 6+ schemes. To know more about the college scholarship and eligibility criteria you can visit the college campus (if possible) or can visit the college official website.

Campus Life :

The campus is culturally very much diverse and we get an opportunity to learn many things from different cultures. The college provides a good environment for studies and research. Sarang is the annual fest of the college and Shastra is the technical fest where we get an opportunity to show our innovative ideas. The college library is one of the largest libraries in the country and there are many books from around the world from all kinds of authors and writers. International research journals are also available in the college library. The research labs are modern and equipped with all types of tools for research activity. The college infrastructure is well maintained.

Hostel Facilities :

The rooms are available on double and single occupancy according to the availability of rooms. The hostel infrastructure is well maintained and the rooms are regularly cleaned. The hostel food is good menu is very vast which includes South Indian and North Indian menu. The hostel provides us with all kinds of facilities and 24 hours of high-speed WiFi connectivity is also available. The hostel wardens and staff are very cooperative and they properly maintain the decorum of the hostel. We also celebrate birthdays in the hostel and special food is served during birthdays and festivals.

Faculty :

The faculty of the college is of PhD level and they have good industrial exposure with good industrial experience which is very helpful for us. The college faculty motivates and guides us to take part in research activities to increase our analytical skills. The faculty are really approachable we can approach the faculty member of the respective subject to clear the doubts and they are very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is good , like all other institution education is bookish practical projects are less so people will find hard in placements because company expect you to be more practical.Relative grading is the other factor i found it more inappropriate since how grade depends on others as well, that is bad.

I am pursuing ME computer science and engineering course from AVCE.It is a two-year duration course with 4 specializations. Candidates who have completed BE or B.Tech in relevant discipline are eligible to join ME course. Admission to ME program is given on the basis of GATE/ TANCET scores. I got selected on the basis of my GATE score.

Admission:

Admission is on the basis of IIFPT Post Graduate Entrance Examination. A merit list is prepared on the basis of the entrance exam scores and overall academic performance of the student. I always wanted to join the institute for a bachelor’s, but opting for the Food Tech trade was a last minute decision.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college is pretty decent. Many companies visited our campus this year compared to the previous batch. But still there is a lot of scope for improvement. The average salary package offered is around 3-4 LPA. There is a placement cell which deals with all the placement activities. Students have to search for internships on their own.
