Remarks :
I wanted to be part of one of the prestigious engineering colleges of India. Before preparing for GATE I started looking for a college that I can Aim for. IIT Kharagpur caught my attention the college always rank in the top ten engineering program, the placement record of the college is good, the education standards are at their par and one of the biggest plus points is it's in West Bengal as I am also from Kolkata. As I do not want to move out for studies from my state. My GATE rank was between 550 to 650 and per my GATE ranking, I could be part of IIT Kharagpur. To be part of the IIT Kharagpur candidate must clear the GATE exam and should secure a minimum of 60% marks and for SC/ST/PWD 55% marks in B.Tech followed by GD and PI round. If a candidate has not appeared for GATE can also directly take admission but must secure more than 80% in B.tech. If you have any kind of work experience related to your field you will be given more priority.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum of the program is according to the latest industrial norms and standards. After starting my journey in IIT Kharagpur I don't have to worry at all about the research and any project work because the curriculum is a blend of theoretical and research and project work. The college is well known for its research activities and much of the faculty research work is published in international journals. The curriculum is a mixture of traditional and modern studies.
Internships Opportunities :
We can apply for the internship program after completing the first year of our program. We can collect the list of visiting companies for the internship program from the college placement committee. Around 30+ companies visited the campus during the internship program. The stipend ranges from Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 87000/- depending on the tenure of the internship. The teaching standards of the college are so high that few of the students receive pre-placement offers during their internship.
Placement Experience :
The college placement is superb. The college provides one of the best returns on investment. The college placement committee is helpful and professional they totally help us guide us and they make sure that every participating student is placed with a good amount of package. The highest package for our batch went up to 65 LPA and the average package went up to 22 LPA. Companies like Barclay, Goldman Sachs, Honeywell, Microsoft, MasterCard, Dr Reddy, Tata Steel, Accenture, TSMC, Sony, Rakuten, etc took part in the placement drive of the college.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The college provides scholarships to meritious students. Scholarship for SC/ST/PWD students is also available. The college also provides scholarships through some private scholarship programs. Campus Life :
The campus life of the college is fun. The college organises a number of events and fests like Robosoccer, leader summit, Kshitij, Tech Fest and spring fest are the main attraction point of the college. The college library is equipped with modern seating arrangements and with lots of books and national and international research journals are also available. The classrooms are big and properly ventilated. There are many research and project opportunities available for students any student interested in any kind o research can take part in such research and project works.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms are spacious and well maintained. The rooms are cleaned daily except on weekends. The hostel is well maintained. The hostel provides 24 hours power and internet facility. The hostel rooms are available as triple, double and single sharing. The food of the mess is tasty and hygienic. The hostel is equipped with all kinds of facilities for students.
Faculty :
The faculty of the college are mostly PhD level with industrial exposure which is very beneficial for us. The faculty are friendly and we can also approach the faculty at any time to clear our doubts and they also help us and guide us. The faculty and student ratio is around 1:11.
