The notification for PhD was released around April. The application had to be sent along with a demand draft. The selected candidates were asked for a written exam followed by an oral exam. The topics include engineering subjects, English and Mathematics. Two panels were constituted for taking the oral exam in parallel. The result was announced around two weeks after the exams. The arrangements were made by the teaching assistants and Professors. Accommodations were also made in pleasant environment during visit to the institute for the candidates. Later the selected candidates were given detailed instructions and suggestions regarding their stay in the institute and the documents needed during the orientation program in the institute.
Faculty
The faculties deserve kudos from the students. They try to make the subjects easy to the students. Sometimes they set different questions for different group of students in exams and quizzes. Presentations and term papers also become part of courses. The grading is relative rather than absolute, so even if the questions are set tough enough, there is always a provision to get grade A in any subject.
