The entrance examination for postgraduate studies in IIT is GATE. But getting admission in IIT even after qualifying GATE is not easy. Your ranks in GATE must be less than 1000 to get admission in IIT. Those who score very (Gate score > 800) high can get admission directly in some IIT. For others, some departments take their own written exam followed by an interview.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure of IITB is very good. In each department, there are a few essential courses. A student must complete them with more than CPI. Students can also attend courses in other departments. Students can credit, audit, or sit through a course offered by any department.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes IITB provides internships to BTech students. All details are provided on the website of IITB. The remuneration during the internship depends on the availability of projects. Therefore, most of the time, it is not known a priori.

Placement Experience :

In IITB all students are placed except those who want to go for higher studies or have some other career plans. Last year IIT has decided not to disclose the packages and other details of the placement because some students feel disappointed when they compare their packages with other students. But a brief data is published by the placement cell at the end of the session.

College Events :

I don't remember the names of all events celebrated in IITB. There are two famous events Mood Indigo and Techfest. Inter IIT sports meet and cultural meet are also organized and celebrated with greater enthusiasm. Individual departments organize conferences and workshops. Many student bodies like Malayalam Cultural Association also celebrate many events.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee for BTech is around 90000 Rs. Many (around 48%) students get scholarships and/or fee-waiver. All MTech and Ph.D. students get scholarships from MHRD/CSIR/DST/INSPIRE. Canara Bank and SBI banks are within the campus. They easily provide education loans to students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholarships are provided from MHRD, CSIR, INSPIRE, and DST. All banks are ready to provide education loans.

Campus Life :

There are so many technical and non-technical activities organized by students and they are continued over the year. Two notable robotics activities are UAV- unmanned air vehicle, AUV - Autonomous underwater vehicle. Some students are also working on providing affordable and sustainable homes to every citizen of India.

Alumni/Alumna :

There is a council named SARC- Student alumni relationship cell which organizes several events to establishes the connection between alumni and the institute. Alumni also visit the institute and they meet their mentees.

Exam Structure :

There are basically two exams - mid-sem and end-sem in each semester with some quizzes. The exam structure is also based on the choice of the instructor. Many professors like to give so many assignments, tutorials, or quizzes. Sometimes quizzes are open book. Some professors like to give projects in place of quizzes.

Faculty :

All faculties of IITB have the academic profile of international standards. Most of them are graduated from IIT and pursued higher studies in some premier institutes of the world. They have done very impactful research during their Ph.D. studies under some well-known researchers. Faculties in IITB also have experience in Post Doctoral studies or some Industry.

Admission:

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai is an advanced research institution. To get admission in M. Phil program, the candidate should have Master's degree with atleast 55 percent and then they wi be selected on the basis of entrance and merit.

Placement Experience:

M.Phil students from IGIDR have been placed in the corporate sector. Some of the students pursue their doctorates. The various recruiters are bank of America, HDFC Bank , IIT Kanpur etc. The students are well trained before they pursue their careers.

I cleared the NET-JRF examination conducted by CSIR, India. The IIT Bombay has very talented faculty members and opting for IIT Bombay for me was a very good decision.

Admission:

I got admission to IIT Bombay through a written examination conducted by IIT Bombay. Before entering into the examination, everyone has to clear a national level fellowship exam like CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, GATE, or NBHM. Then institute will shortlist a few candidates for writing and interview. Finally selected candidates to get admission to the institute.
