Remarks :
I applied for IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IISc Bombay. I got offer letters from all three colleges. I decided to go for IISc. Regarding the admission process, admission was completely based on a GATE score. There was no interviews or any test. For the general category, students having gate rank up to 47 got admission. There was no specific counseling day, students directly got offer letters. Regarding admission criteria, I don't think there was anything except gate score.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I wanted to do a master's in computer science and IISc provided me with that opportunity. I also got calls from IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, but I chose IISc considering many factors such as faculty, learning, placements, students to faculty ratio, future opportunities. I made this decision after talking to many seniors from IITs and IISc and doing exhaustive research about the institutes. Exams are quite difficult here and the course structure is also heavy.
Internships Opportunities :
This year because of CORONA, not many companies visited the campus, but yes there were big companies like Flipkart, cisco, MasterCard, texas, GS, etc. Companies offer various profiles such as data scientists, software developers, etc.
Placement Experience :
Students are eligible for placements after completing their first year. Placements generally start in the month of October. Talking about the placements stats, it is one of the top in the country. Placement for CSA, AI, CDS departments goes as high as any other IIT, according to the stats, I guess it is even higher than any IIT.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees are quite low as compared to the other premium institutes offering the same degree. I think the tuition fee for the entire course is around 60000. We also get a 12,4000 rupees stipend every month from ACTAE. This stipend is given to every student enrolled for a master's through the gate in any recognized college or institute.
Campus Life :
Due to the CORONA period, I would not be able to give an exact view about how usually campus life goes over here. But yeah, there are good sports opportunities and various clubs. A great library is there on the campus and students can access it through the internet as well. There are a couple of fests that go on here, one if pravega. There are also various sports tournaments available.
