Entrance exam for Ph.d admission, which is conducted once in a year approximately in the year of August. I Scored- 90% in my Phd examination It is one of the top universities in India.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is evolving every year and since previous year. The curriculum is elaborated and new co-related maters are included. The curriculum includes our own subject and one subject consisting of general knowledge related to the broad area of the subjects of that department.

Internships Opportunities :

It depends upon the type of department and the research work. Some of the research projects have scholarships while few of them do not provide any fellowship.

Placement Experience :

The placements and job opportunities depend upon the departments and the knowledge of every individual student. Since, Karnataka University is good in curriculum so the students can compete anywhere in the world which help them to apply all over the world and many of them crack the pot.

College Events :

The convocation day of the college is very happening where the students from PG and PhD are provided their degrees. Besides that, seminars, conferences, exhibitions and music festivals are celebrated which are open to all. Cultural and modern day programmes are arranged with a good blend.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The university provides a yearly scholarship for those students who qualify for the scholarship test conducted by the university. The amount is paid monthly wise.

Campus Life :

The gender ratio is almost 50: 50. In some of the departments, the girl students are more like in Biology but in some departments, boy students are more like Physics and Maths department. But that is purely based on the choice of the students. There is no gender bias. There are often conferences conducted in the campus which are open to all.

Alumni/Alumna :

The University alumni association is helpful and very encouraging. They try to provide news of any job opportunities in their institutions. They also share their experiences.

Exam Structure :

The exams are always hectic for students anywhere. But, the pressure is not high so the students have a relaxed mind and free thinking which is helpful for proper growth. The labs are conducted generally once in a day so that it can go hand-in-hand with the theoretical classes.

Admission :

The forms are notified in University website, After filling it up, examinations are conducted in the respective departments. Once the result are out, the merit list is formed and the the students are selected on the basis of no of vacancies for respective guides/professors.

Faculty :

The faculties are very helpful, highly qualified. They always motivate students for better future. They go out of the way and provide notes for the classes, suggests books from the library. The atmosphere is very healthy and friendly. Every faculty is assigned a particular topic to teach which may be exchanged every year.

For applying the basic eligibility is Masters in Science oriented field with at least 55% marks secured. After which the university had held an entrance test for which I had to register by paying 41,000 rupees. After clearing the test, I got the admission.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are good . The students get to work on campus and they get opportunities to take up teaching jobs and also research jobs at the campus itself. The college also provides internship to its students.

Admission:

To get admission in the dual integrated course of this college the student must have graduated with a honors degree of B.Tech or BSc. related to the relevant field the student wants to apply in. There will be an entrance exam held in December every year, and the interview for the same will be in May with the head of departments for respective courses.

Placement Experience:

The institute provides an internship programme post completion of the doctoral degree so the students get a hands on experience in the field of research. The students are given a freedom to choose the area of research of their choice and allowed to explore work opportunities in that field.

Remarks:

Research is more of an independent pursuit, so I do not depend on university for any major part of my work. Only for passing the documents related to work, it takes a lot of time, which leads to delay in fellowships, grants for research. The system should be made more transparent and student centered.

A no. Of conferences organised to expand the research collaboration in the world. Many scientists, nobel laureates come to give lectures. You get a lot of exposure to the research in few years. I enrolled as a Int. PhD. Student in chemical science. You get opportunity to do any experiment in the lab. Its like you are given a lab and play with science. Emense machines of crores are available for students like Titan-TEM, AFM, FESEM, NMR, HPLC, ICP.

I had appeared and cleared GATE, CSIR-UGC, ICMR and IISc entrance tests. My GATE rank was 87 and I also have cleared the remaining 3 exams I have mentioned above. I did not apply for any other institute, as I wanted to do my PhD here in this institute only. The reason behind choosing this institute is simple, "It's the best".

Admission:

I had applied through GATE exam and also had written institute entrance test (discontinued after 2012). I was called for interview into 3 departments of which I wanted to join the Molecular Biophysics Unit where I am now. After clearing the 2 rounds of interviews and after getting selected for PhD course here, I had written and cleared CSIR-UGC NET and ICMR exams and cleared them as well. THe admission process here is very simple and straight forward. You would be called for interview if have at least one of the qualifications mentioned, then you need to clear 1 or 2 rounds of interviews based on the department.
