Remarks :

Besides IIM Shillong I converted IIM Tiruchirapalli, IIM Udaipur, IIM Ranchi and I was super confused among these for colleges. So, after talking to seniors and my friends, I decided to choose IIM Shillong because first of all, its location. I never went here. So, location is the first reason and of course, refer to placement reports as well, and basically, I like the faculties on their website.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My experience till now is utterly online. Since I've not visited campus yet. There are around 250 students in our batch and around 200 students in the senior batch. And it is common to all the IIMs that there are 3 terms in a year. We have good faculty in Shillong as well. We have permanent faculty in Shillong as well and we have a lot of guest lecturers from various colleges like IIM Lucknow, IIM Nagpur, MDI, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore. The permanent faculties are very highly knowledgeable and expert in their area. So, the faculty & student ratio is about 40:1 or 30:1.

Placement Experience :

As per last year's report was given on the website, the median is around 17 lakhs and the average is also that only. And the top companies that visited our campus are BCG, BAIN, Reliance, and many other companies.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee is around 20 lakhs for 2 years and there is an NBFA scholarship i.e. Need-Based Financial Assistance scholarships and it is open to all the people who have a family income of fewer than 6 lakhs.

Campus Life :

It is completely online. till now. and I hope so they will call us on campus very soon and where it is some people have already meant to campus. We don't fill any lack of campus as the cultural committees are trying their best to make the funny event online. Recently we had Gajendra Verma, a prominent singer in our college and we had a very great session on zoom. Also, they have very city meetups like Delhi meet up, Kolkata meets up. So, people despite not going to meet each other, they are have been too.

Admission :

I have taken CAT 3 times. I cleared my CAT 2019 attempt and got 96 percentile and got admission to IIM Shillong in 2020. And my interview was held online due to covid and the process was very smooth. For IIM Shillong, there was no GD and no WAT. It was only PI online and there were 2 moderators during the interview and my interview revolves around General affairs, academic questions. I think my given topic was somewhat related to Indian Agriculture. So, being from an economics background basically in almost all the interviews I was asked some academic question from my area. There was not any single interview in which I was not asked. It ranges from consumer price index, the difference between GDP & GNP and inflation rate, Keynesian vs classical theory all these kinds of questions. I worked as an insurance adjustor. So, they asked me about the basic principle of insurance and the rest types of insuring companies in India, in foreign.I was prepared before it. I took coaching in Delhi. If someone is a fresher I would advise him/her to be thorough with their academic subjects and they have not a work experience. So, mostly the interview would be based on academic subjects based on my experience. Also, you are going to do an MBA. So, you are expected to know everything about current affairs like what is happening around you. You do not need to have deep knowledge but you need to have a knowledge of all the topics, of all the things happening around you. So, I would refer to the BS coaching institute to release their preparation books. You can refer to them. Also, I refer to IIMs Bible.I was thorough with my academic subjects. I answered them very confidently. Whatever they have asked I have just replied to that question only. I have not answered any extra or any less because answering even extra may land up you in a difficult situation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is a professional course and its curriculum is pretty difficult. B.A.LL.B(Hons) is a 5 year course which spans to over 10 semesters. Some of th aspect that made me opt for this particular course is that one need not do a 4 year B.A. course and then 3 year LL.B course when one can do all that in 5 years. Additionally, after graduation from this course one can practice as an advocate directly after passing the BAR exams. B.A.LL.B(Hons) is a course which has both theory and practical. For most of the first two years pre-law papers will be taught to have a basic understanding of concepts and to build up a foundation for grasping the more complex papers to be taught in the higher semesters. This course also includes interning and this is implemented from the 1st year itself which is great exposure for students. The course however needs revision as it is pretty old. Exams can pretty difficult or easy depending on one's own capabilities and preparation as the paper can be tough.

Admission:

I got admission in this course after qualifying my Bachelor of computer application with 70 percent of marks. Any graduates from any discipline with minimum 45 percent of marks from a recognised university are eligible to apply for admission in this course. The admission process was very good in our university.

Placement Experience:

Internship facility was provided by the university. The university was average in placement and job opportunities. Many companies like Big Bazaar, Vodafone, Airtel, Max cement, BSNL, Pepsico etc come to our university every year for campus recruitment. They offered minimum salary package of 2.5 lakh rupees annually and maximum salary package of 8 lakh rupees per annum.
