Ans. With all the operations being shifted to the new campus, each student is provided with a single room. Each floor has one common room and 6 rooms with basic amenities like water purifier, refrigerator, microwave, washing machine. The bathroom is equipped with a 24x7 hot water facility and a personal balcony. The hostel blocks are minutes away from academic buildings which save quite a lot of time on a rigorous day.
The rooms have a bed, table, chair, bookshelf, and a large almirah. All the rooms and the common room have radiant cooling installed which keeps the temperature at an optimum level, be it summers or winter. The hostel rooms are provided with Wi-Fi on each floor and students even get the facility of ethernet ports in their own room which gives speeds up to 200Mbps.
The rooms are cleaned every day by dedicated cleaning and maintenance staff. There is an infrastructure committee handled by 14-16 students which looks up all the issues pertaining to the hostel facilities and solve them within 24 hours. The medical staff and counselor are available in hostels. The night canteens and basic necessity shops are within the hostels only and make it easier for everyone to make the purchases without leaving the campus.

I wrote CAT and went through the complete admission process (almost similar for most of the colleges), which included profiling, GD and PI. The Common Admission Process is held for a bunch of new IIMs for the admissions

The process started with the CAT application form, then the CAT exam, followed by a call letter for an Interview and then the selection email. The Interview was mostly about my experience and scenario-based questions like how would you do in a particular situation, etc. The Main aspect of the admission process that I didn't like was at the beginning there needed to be more clarity on how the process would go on, what kind of questions would be asked, and mainly the timeline of the events(i.e. Interviews and the various mails).

Admission:
The MBA analytics program at IIM Kashipur is more inclusive because it also accepts students from non-technical backgrounds. The eligibility is 50% and above in Graduation and the other criteria are similar to other B-schools. For the MBA analytics program, there is a separate application process from CAP, the registration usually starts in January and goes on for a month. There was a PI round after my application was selected and I would say the difficulty was low to moderate.

To get into IIM you need to take a CAT entrance exam. The minimum required percentage is 80% for the ST, SC, and 99% and above for the General category. The application form is available on the internet from September to October and the exam is held at the end of November. The application fees for ST, SC, and OBC categories are 1000/- and that of the general category is more than 2000/-. For the reservation category, there are benefits of a little lesser application fee and a lower percentage required to enter a college but the seats are limited for them. The exam is mostly held on Sundays, and timings are also convenient as it has 3 shifts of 7-10 am, 11-2 pm, and 3-6 pm. If study hard and work on the core subjects that come in exam can ace the exam. The duration of getting the results and then for interviews has a long gap, which needs to be shortened.

Admission:
The admission process started from writing the CAT examination which is usually held in the month of November. The fee for the form is INR 2400. It can be found on the official website of CAT and the notification is generally released in August. The exam's difficulty level varies from moderate to tough. It happens only once a year. After clearing the aptitude test, interview calls are released. Some IIMs (BLACKIS) send their separate interview calls but for new and baby IIMs, we need to register for CAP. After getting these interview calls, interview dates and time slots are allotted. On clearing the interviews, an official admission offer is made. The eligibility of the course is that you need to hold an undergraduate degree with an aggregate of 50%. For reserved categories, it's 45%. Students who are in their final year can also write the exam but they have to show their degree certificate at the time of admission or whenever demanded by the institutes.

For MBA Analytics, forms were sent by the admission office to all those who are eligible on the basis of the CAT exam, and on that, a composite score is generated and the admission. As this is an institute under the central govt, it avails reservation benefits as well, and this program has six terms with two month internship, which makes this course suitable for creating future leaders. The difficulty level is high as it is challenging to manage things easily.

Why is IIM Kashipur the least preferred IIM among the new ones?
Honestly, I wouldn’t call IIM Kashipur the least preferred but the most underrated IIM. It’s at par with all the IIMs with respect to placements, infrastructure, faculty, student-teacher ratio, and rigor. Yet it’s highly underestimated owing to its single disadvantage of location.
IIMs welcome students from all over India. But the students from South or North-East India find it rather difficult to first travel to Delhi and then travel by Road or Rail to Kashipur. They prefer their comfort over anything.
The other reason is that most IIMs have been able to establish a uniqueness about themselves. IIM Kashipur lacks in this aspect. IIM Rohtak is the oldest and closest to NCR, IIM Udaipur attracts students based on MHRD ratings, IIM Trichy made itself known as a CFA Recognised Institute under the Institute University Recognition Programme and IIM Ranchi has the best placement opportunities. IIM Kashipur has failed to market itself on a particular aspect and thus is underestimated.

Placements at IIM Kashipur have an obvious advantage, but only for the top 10% of the batch will it make a significant difference. Otherwise, you'll do well at both locations.
Furthermore, if you're looking for future entitlement, it makes little difference. IIM Kashipur is the newest, and IIM Sambalpur is the youngest. If you build a strong profile for yourself, the location between these two IIMs will not hold much value in the future. As a result, if you can afford to lose the money, do so without hesitation. If you can't afford to lose that money, forget it and you will have no regrets.
Currently, my elder brother is placed at Cognizant as a senior business analyst at 14 Lakh CTC in IIM Kashipur. How much would he be earning in the next 5 years?
The IT industry today is flourishing and is facing a huge shortage. So he will definitely land a great job especially if he is a BBA/BCOM graduate.
Cognizant does not have very fast growth. So depending on his performance, and economic and academic background, he might witness growth between 2% to 10%. If he is an engineer from the IT stream, his growth will be faster.
In my personal opinion, his IT background does not make him suitable for IIM Kashipur or even Lucknow. An IT software engineer with 2 years of experience earns around 18 to 20 lakh.
