Life at IIM Trichy
Life at IIM Trichy is a roller coaster ride with a rigorous schedule but an adventurous experience to remember. The classes at IIM Trichy ideally begin at 8 in the morning and can stretch up to 10 at night. There are breaks in between the sessions when the students run for a coffee break or make up for the missed meal or a quick nap to get recharged for the rest of the day.
Once the classes are over, the real life of IIM Trichy begins. The students are seen spending their leisure time in the dhaba with a cup of tea and a topic to discuss. The admission process was quite smooth. For Admission to IIM Trichy, you have to appear for CAT and then according to the percentile and cutoff you get calls. IIM Trichy admission intereviews takes place under CAP interview process. So after the CAP interviews are done. The lists are generally out in May. Subsequentl list keeps coming for some time. I gave the CAT entrance test. It was a great experience and the exam was handled in a structured manner. After I got shortlisted from IIM Trichy I was selected for the Common Admission Process. My cutoff was 74 percentile and I was way above that. After that, I had a Personal Interview which went great. I got multiple offers from IIMs. I choose to join IIM Trichy as it was my dream call. I went in via NC-OBC quota. The entire admission process went smoothly. The admissions office is really cooperative and helped me throughout the journey whenever I faced any issue/obstacle.

For the PGPM course, you need Bachelor in any domain for IIMs. When you will fill CAT form, the option will be there to select IIMs and their courses. If you failed to select there any IIM you will not be able to apply them by any means in the future. The benefits of reservation vary from gender to category and academic background. If you are a female candidate some IIMs offer a gender diversity score, if you are from a non-Btech background then you can get an academic diversity score based on selected courses under the list.

The Application form for the exam can be availed from the CAT Website and the application fee is 2000 rupees. The cut-off is different for different categories of students, which is highest for the General students which are 92+ percentile overall and 70+ percentile in each section. I belong to the general category and I haven't availed of any reservation benefits.

The cut-off for general category students is 92+ overall percentile and 70+ percentile in all the 3 sections of CAT. I haven't attained any reservation benefits. After the CAT the CAP committee sends an application to all the eligible candidates. The candidates will go through a GD/WAT and PI process post which the admissions will be rolled out.

Admission into the college like other B-schools starts with clearing the CAT exam with the mentioned cutoff both overall and sectional. Post that a Common Admission Process (CAP) is conducted by one of the new IIMs. For us, the process included the PI only. Suppose you are eligible for the process, the college contacts you via email. You then have to yourself registered on their portal and follow the further procedures. Any student who has at least done the under-graduation is applicable to sit for cat and then for the further process for all colleges.

Is IIM Trichy the best among new IIMs?
It would not be right to question the idea of ranking institutes based on metrics such as the highest CTC (cost to company) offered to graduates, or the perceived quality of the companies that hire graduates. It is not the institute itself that determines a person's success, but rather the individual's own actions and what they do with the education they receive. You also emphasize the importance of academic and personal discipline, which you believe are more valuable than material success.
People believe that everyone who studies at any IIM has the potential to be successful, but not necessarily in the sense of earning a high salary or getting a high-paying job. Instead, the true value of an institute lies in the knowledge and skills that a person gains, and how they use them to make a positive impact in the world. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to determine their own success and make the most of the opportunities they receive. You will have a positive experience studying at IIM Trichy, but it will not be fair or accurate to claim that it is the best new IIM.
Is it worth choosing IIM Ranchi, Trichy for MBA in terms of placement and future scope?
Yes, you can easily choose IIM Ranchi or Trichy based on their placement statistics because the placement scenarios at both IIMs seem promising despite the lack of infrastructure and campus facilities. In many cases, Trichy and Ranchi have exchanged leads outside the ABC and LIK worlds. All can be overcome if you are taught by the best professors.
Elaborating further, IIM Trichy seems better than Ranchi or Rohtak to me. The reason being the superior teaching methods and its favorable location both for students as well as recruiters. Apart from Trichy, other IIMs are also doing fairly well compared to non-CAT MBA institutes. These are doing well with the help of sponsor IIMs which arrange faculty and placements. These in turn select their own Directors and invest in the infrastructure required in another 3–4 years as Trichy and Ranch have already done.
Is it okay to leave JBIMS for IIM Trichy as it has an IIM tag and the companies prefer IIMs more?
There are nine reasons for choosing JB over Trichy. Firstly, JBIMS has a stronger alumni base, with many successful CEO's having graduated from the institute. Secondly, JB has a better reputation in the industry. Thirdly, JB ranks in the top 10 colleges, while Trichy is far behind. Fourthly, the average salary offered at JB (INR 27.63 LPA) is higher than that offered at Trichy (INR 17.01 LPA). Fifthly, JB offers better roles and opportunities. Sixthly, the location of JB (Mumbai) is a major advantage over Trichy. Seventhly, the IIM tag carries more weight when one graduates from BLACKI compared to a newer institute like Trichy. Eighthly, the return on investment for JBIMS is higher than that for Trichy. Finally, the cutoff for general category applicants at JBIMS is 99.93%tile+ in the CET, while the cutoff for Trichy is 93%tile+ in the CAT.

How good is PGPBM course (provided by IIM Trichy) at Chennai Center?
The worth of a certain program depends on what you want to achieve after completing it. In case you want to just ameliorate your knowledge and skills, this course is indeed the finest option. But if you are pursuing it to receive a high-paying package, then your approach is wrong. Yes, it will open doors for better job prospects but you cannot directly grab a high-paying job right off the bat.

Why is the waitlist movement of IIM Trichy slow?
There are multiple reasons that cause the waitlist movement of IIM Trichy to slow down. Some include
- A high number of buffer calls.
- The waitlist commitment fee ensures only interested candidates stay in the waitlist.
- Slower waitlist movement of older IIMs. This is because the Waitlist movement of IIM Trichy or that of any second-generation IIM depends on the waitlist movement of the top IIMs like A,B, l,C, K,L,I. Once their waitlist moves, the candidates vacant the seats from the newer IIMs resulting in their own waitlist movement.
So all you can do is wait for the top IIMs' waitlist movement.
How is the life after IIM Trichy?
After the completion of my MBA from IIM Trichy, I realized that the placements were decent and in accordance with the IIM standards. Most students got expected or more than expected-CTCs. The students who were unable to get placed in a desirable firm opted for off-campus placements and they too landed better jobs. Most of the students were able to start their careers within a month after graduation.
All in all, after 2 hectic years full of classes and exams, it’s kind of relaxing to sit and wait for placements.
How will the presence of IIM Trichy and BIM affect the MBA students of DoMS NIT Trichy during the placement season?
The MBA students of DoMS NIT Trichy will not be significantly affected by the presence of IIM Trichy during the placement season. NIT Trichy is a well-known technical institute and around 60% of the companies that come for Techies also come for NIT Trichy. This means that there is a set of companies that are already open to hiring NIT Trichy students. In the past few years, more and more companies have opened up placements for DoMS, increasing the percentage placement conversion from these companies. The Training and Placement Committee also works to bring in more companies that align with the interests of the students.
Additionally, there are alumni connections that can be utilized. There may be some challenges with companies based in Chennai or Bangalore coming from BIM, but IIM Trichy has a different set of companies and therefore will not greatly impact NIT Trichy in that regard.
What is a waitlist commitment amount? Does IIM Trichy have this?
The simple definition of waitlist movement amount is the money some colleges accept from students to include them on the waitlist. The reason for charging extra fees is to ensure that students are opting to stay on the waitlist not just in case but because they want to seriously join the college. However, later on, if you fail to get a seat, the amount is refunded and in case you get a seat, this amount is adjusted against the total fees. Paying this amount basically means that one is serious about his admission. IIM Trichy is one of the IIMs that has this facility.

- Faculty: The faculty of IIM Trichy is comparable with SP Jain in many areas.
- Placements: Although the placements at SP Jain are better than these new IIMs, they have been stagnant for the past few years. Moreover, the placements at IIM Trichy and Ranchi are getting better every year.

The IIM Tiruchirrapalli PhD examination result will be published by 25th April 2024. The results will be released for two courses PhD and Executive PhD.
Any official announcement regarding the IIM Trichy final results haven’t been released yet. However, based on past stats, the results for the IIM Trichy PGP program are generally released in the first week of May.
No, IIM Trichy does not accept GMAT examination scores for admission to its MBA Finance course.
Hostel facilities are available in IIM Trichy. The IIM Trichy hostel rooms are distributed on sharing basis.
The cut-off required for CAT for IIM Trichy is 95.5%ile.
The mess facility of IIM Trichy is good. This institute has not mentioned any information about the hostel details. You can either visit the official website of the institute to get the information. The total fee of the two years full-time PGP course is Rs 16.5 Lakhs. To be eligible for the course you must have passed your Graduation from a recognized university. The final admission is based on CAT scores and personal interviews.
