Remarks
I have applied for the top 5 Nits and some IITs. But I chose nit Warangal since it's is the oldest and most popular Nit. I didn't avail any quota During my time, you should get <5000 ranks to get a seat in nit warangal in the desired branch. But now, things are slight changes due to changes in weightage. admission was through JEE mains score. During 2015, we had interacts weightage also but now it's removed. Once jee mains results are out Josaa asks for filling in choices and preferences. There are almost 4-5 phases of admission, After 1 st phase we have to confirm our seat in the nearest nit/IIT and proceed for further phases of admission. there will be a lot of staff who help us in this process and all our doubts can be clarified here or else on the josaa website. at the last phase, you will get your final seat allotment. Once it's done, you have to pay the fee and proceed further. there is certificate verification and You will get your schedule for the joining date and commencement of the classes.
Course Curriculum Overview
Almost all IITs and nits are prestigious colleges. The exam schedules are planned well and in advance. The year is divided into 2 semesters and each semester has term exams that are conducted timely and scheduled properly so that it's not a burden on students. They provide proper gaps between 2 exams and the time is enough for preparation. Each semester has 2 minors 1 mid and 1 end exam with a total score of 100 marks. The marks are divided proportionately The exams are a bit tougher compared to normal colleges. Following classes regularly and practicing the problems and revising the concepts on a regular basis would be helpful. The pass mark limit is also quite high. Minimum attendance is required in order to write the exam.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are available from 2 nd year itself. But most of the internships are offered in 3rd year. Almost all the companies which comes for placements offers internships to 3 rd year students. Some of the companies also offers PPOs. Some of them are microsoft, SanDisk, Goldman Sachs, master card , visa, l&t Etc Stipend will be around 20000-50000 based on the company . However , internship opportunities are not that adequate to some branches like chemical , biotechnology, metallurgy and civil engineering. The projects are very exciting and challenging.
Placement Experience
From 3rd year second semester, companies start coming and students are eligible for campus placement from then. There are a lot of reputed companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, Adobe, Qualcomm, intel , SanDisk, ITC, L&T, Novartis, etc which offer placements and internships. Some of the PSUs like GAIL, HPCL, BPCL,BHEL etc also come for campus placements. The highest package was 45 lakhs and the average package is around 10-12 lakhs. However, it differs from branch to branch. Almost all the students ( who passed all the tests)get placed in the college and it will be around 90 percent. Work for some years and plan for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since it's a central government college, a well-established committee is created to look into the fees structure and necessary hikes would be made. However, the fee structure is different for different students is based on their income and quota/ reservation. There are a lot of scholarships provided. Some are based on quota and some are based on merit I have acquired a merit scholarship for 3 years, which will reimburse the exam fee for the year. Good marks and being in the top 10 in the class are required to attain a merit scholarship However, financial assistance is also provided to economically weaker sections through some scholarships. I got a job from campus placements, I was placed in laursen and toubro limited (L&T) . Initially, I was given the role of graduate engineer trainee and after 1 yr of training, I was promoted to senior engineer. The stipend was ~40000/month
Campus Life
There are a lot of extracurricular activities in the college like clubs, associations, and sports groups in the college. There are also social groups like NCc, NSS and Youth red cross Most of them are run by students with faculty advisors. Some of the clubs are nature club, innovative and entrepreneurship club, painting club, music club, dance club, sports club, center for value education, movies club etc. Every branch has its association. The events are conducted on regular basis by the clubs. The college also has 2 fests completely organized by students - technozion and spring spree which attracts a lot of participants from across India. Our college also has a student portal managed by students and guided by staff and technicians which provides information regarding marks, college fee payments , student activities etc.
Hostel Facilities
In the first 2 years, you will receive 4 member sharing rooms and in the 3rd and 4th year, they will give us a 2 member sharing room. However for boys, it's slightly different, they get single rooms from 2 /3 rd year The rooms are equipped with a cot, fan, study chair, study table, cupboard and LAN and electricity supply. Meals are good and hygienic. The kitchens are also clean. They change the menu regularly and include foods suggested by the students. They also impose fines on caterers for the complaints received from students. The registration process for a hostel is done along with the tuition fees registration and they are very affordable compared to many colleges/living independently. Permission from college is required in order to stay outside the campus for non-local students.
