Remarks :
Jagannath Barooah College is a prominent college of Jorhat in Assam which provides basically UG courses and few PG programs too as it is an Autonomous College registered under Dibrugarh University and a prominent institution running from the time of 1930s. Since many prominent personalities like the Former CM as well as many artists passed out from this College. The entrance examination is conducted by the examination cell where the eligibility criteria are that every student must get 50% in their 12th and have to qualify the entrance with good marks can avail seats in the institution according to their course choice. Students get seats through reserved category also and quotas too.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Basically, I choose the BA program in Political Science because this is the first College that provides CBCS for the very first in Assam in the year 2016, which provides all India syllabus as same just like every single College follow in the country. And the faculty is very good as all the teachers have good proficiency in all mediums of instructions and have studied from prominent Universities like Delhi University, JMI, AMU, etc. They also follow the same curriculum just like that of Delhi University. And the institution has two seminar halls where sessions used to go on and many co-curricular activities every year. Exams were partially conducted on the basis of 2 internal assessments and one final exam on semester basis.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
We have to pay one time in a year, which means for six semesters we have to pay only for 3 terms and the amount is very less in comparison to other Colleges. UG Scholarship,MLA Scholarship,etc Those students who are poor but meritorious can avail their degree free of cost, etc
Campus Life :
In the year 2019, a big college fest organized by the College Authority which is Anirvana 1.0 where we have called upon Jubeen Garg and one DJ from Bombay and one concert team as well as many outdoor and indoor activities organized. Cultural rally and many acts performed by the students of every department in the rally. ASSU and NSUI are two students Union are there who look after the activities As well as there is a separate branch for NCC is also available for both Girls and Boys One mini indoor hall is there along with different sections and one separate Library consisting of several journals, Novels, and books related to the curriculum. Separate libraries for each department are also available, practical laboratory for Science students. New courses like:-Film studies, Sociology, NCC are also included in the recent past.
