Remarks :
The complaints regarding any type of issue are noted and a quick action is taken into account. There is a very friendly environment. You can even perform research work under professors to gain some experience before facing real life job pressure
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course structure for first year is the same for all the branch students as there is a provision of branch change for those who did not get preferred branch through JEE ADVANCED. But it is quite difficult as the competition is very high. The exams would be conducted twice in a semester (there are two semesters in an year) with labs happening every week. The load is not too much and there is enough time to explore interests.
Placement Experience :
The placement statistics are very awesome. A variety of companies visit each year including the Google, Microsoft, Amazon. Other companies too give good offers. There are internships too and over 500 students got PPO(pre placement offers). Almost everyone gets placed somewhere and it is a huge platform for startups and entrepreneurs too.
College Events :
There a lot of events going on throughout the year. We have our techno management fest, Kshitij and the grand cultural fest, Spring fest in the month of January. Then, there is Holi, Durga pooja, diwali(illumination) celebrated at a very large scale. Some religious festivals such as Ganesha Chaturthi etc are also celebrated.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is almost as equal to most other engineering colleges. The average fee of one semester is around 1.5lakhs. But there are scholarships and even compensations of upto 1lakh for those who can't afford it, all they need to do is to produce their income documents to verify their problem.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are many scholarships/loans/compensations given by our college to support students. Close to 1000 students receive scholarships. They are given on Merit-cum-means basis. There are alumni scholarships as well. There is B. P. Poddar scholarship which is Rs 1000 /- per month. There is Kumund monorama scholarship which is also Rs 1000 /- per month. There is 'batch of 85 scholarship' of Rs 50000/- given to two second years on basis of their cgpa. There are many others. Almost 17-25 scholarships are there which are available on google.
Campus Life :
There is a heaven lot of sports to choose from. Cricket, gymnastics, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, weight lifting, squash, chess etc everything is there. Labs are highly sophisticated and well equipped. There are dance groups, mimics, standup comedians, writers, etc. There is a lot of extra activities to choose from and life is very lively.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels are quite good with a lot of facilities. Be it library, gym, general store, canteens, nescafe etc. Canteens are opened till 3am so that anyone can cure his mid night hunger. Each hostel in the college has different infrastructure but most of the rooms are triple occupied and there are wings of twelve rooms which have two Lavatories(washrooms). There are security guards all around the corners and every time of day to protect from any mishappening. You are allowed to go out of hostel any time but have to inform wardon if you are going out of the campus in case of any emergency. The mess staff is very cooperative although the food quality is not very good just like any hostel. We don't call them hostels, here it is a culture to refer to them as halls of residence. Mine is Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hall of Residence ( or simply LBS Hall).
Alumni/Alumna :
Seniors are very helpful and supportive. We all love like a big family here and the alumni network is large too. All over the world, we have people placed and in every field as well. There are a lot of referrals you can get.
Admission :
The admission in all iits is done through the joint entrance exam(JEE) -Advanced. To give JEE-Advanced, You have to qualify JEE mains. Not just qualifying, but getting a good rank is also necessary to get selected for iits.
Faculty :
Some faculty members are very friendly and approachable while some are strict. Moreover the lectures are mostly given in form of PowerPoint presentations and there is not much interaction except for a few proffesors who are very interactive.
