Remarks :

Kharagpur is a town and there is not much to see in the campus. Nearest metropolitan city is kolkata and it takes 4-5 hours to reach there. College has lush green environment and is pollution free. Infrastructure is not on the level of other IIT's.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Courses here are both theory as well as practical based. I am a first year student so i don't know much about my course (mechanical 5 Years). Exams are taken in semester patterm midsem ( which carries 30% of total marks) and endsem ( which carries 50-60 % of total marks) remaining 10-20 % marks are from class tests and attendance

Placement Experience :

IIT KGP HAS 90%+ PLACEMENT RATIO. There are many placement drives and lot of job opportunities. Yeah our college provides internship in first , second , third as well as fourth year ( for 5 year course students )

College Events :

Main fests if the college are SPRING FEST AND KSHITIJ. SPRING FEST is carried in the month of january and is a three day long event where various musical bands, singers , dance groups come to kharagpur.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Recently they increased the fee now it is 142k rupees. It is feasible as rest of private engineering colleges cost more than that. Private colleges like BITS PILANI COST 400K which is not feasible for the common man.

Campus Life :

For EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES students are divided into three divisions - NSO , NSS, NCC and every student here is in any one of it. Nso looks after sports. NCC is national cadet corps which gives basic military training to students. NSS is a social service programme. In NSS students reach out to schools in the villages near kharagpur and teach them basic stuffs.

Hostel Facilities :

I live in LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI HALL OF RESIDENCE . HOSTEL INFRASTRUCTURE is okay . There are four floors with no lifts which is okay . NEARLY 2K students reside here which includes PHD Students , MTECH students and BTECH students.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

ALUMINI NETWORK IS STRONGEST IN IIT KGP AND IS SPREAD ACROSS THE GLOBE as it was the first iit to be established . Seniors here are very helpful and friendly also there is no ragging here. Seniors conduct various events for freshers.

Admission :

First I cleared JEE MAINS (joint entrance exam) which is the eligibility criteria for getting admission in NIT, IIIT , STATE COLLEGES AND MANY PRIVATE COLLEGES and which also is the eligibility criteria to appear for JEE ADVANCED. Students who get a rank under 10k are eligible to get admissions in IIT's . They can choose their field of interest based on their ranks. I qualified JEE ADVANCED AND GOT INTO IIT KGP

Faculty :

faculties here are quite good and interactive. Some are friendly . SOME are very strict .Some of the faculties are very cooperative while some are the exact opposite . Here you will find a mixture of both kind.
