All About BITS PILANI

Remarks :

BITS has many positive points: No reservation , purely merit based admissions Freedom - 0% attendance policy Flexible curriculum-(Inter-disciplinary courses) Great Infrastructure (Well equipped labs and air-conditioned class rooms and lecture halls) Qualified Faculty Exposure to extra-curricular activites Negative points: The ever increasing Fee

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very well structured. BITS follows a centralized syllabus across all the 3 campuses. BITS has a bi-semester pattern. A detailed handout for each course is provided at the start of the semester. There are regular evaluative components such as surprise quizzes, assignments . There are 2 major exams: Mid-Semester and Comprehensive Exam(End-Sem).

Placement Experience :

The placements at BITS have been stellar. Computer Science students bag the best placements followed by the circuital branches (ECE,EEE,ENI). Although the core placements for Mechanical and Chemical are not that great, there is a plethora of offers in the non-core sector such as Banking,Finance and Consulting. BITS has a unique PS-1 and PS-2 system for internships. PS-1 is done after 2nd year where the students work at a company/industry for 2 months. PS-2 is done after 3rd year where the students work exactly as they would in corporate. Stipend is provided in PS-2.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The Fee structure at BITS is quite Expensive. The tuition and hostel fees sum up to almost 4.5 lakhs/year which is huge. Since all families cannot afford it right away, SBI offers education loan to the students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

BITS Offers various scholarships: MCN (Merit-Cum-Need ) Scholarship: If your family income is less than 10 lakhs per annum and you have a CGPA greater than 6 then you are eligible for the MCN . BITS is known for its strong Alumni Network. BITSAA (BITS Alumni Association) is very active and summits/talks are held regularly. These prove to be beneficial for the On-campus students. BITS alumni have made it to top B-Schools and Ivy league for masters.

Admission :

I had cleared BITSAT 2018. BITSAT is a computerized engineering entrance exam. It is usually held in phases . Students can start applying for BITSAT in early January and the exam in held in May every year

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been quite decent and have had 100% placements in the past. The average comes to be a bit average but the highest package so far might be above 44LPA. The main branchea company hire students from are CSE ECE and EEE. The number of students getting placed from CSE and ECE are very good and have good salary packages around 10LPA

Placement Experience:

IIT Goa offers campus placements to its students. Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year of study, i.e., in the 7th or 8th semester. Several reputed companies visit IIT Goa for campus placements, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Power, etc. Higher placements offer is of 1.2cr and average placement offers are16-25 lac per annum. The percentage of students getting placed during campus placements at IIT Goa is quite high, with around 90% of students getting placed every year. The remaining students generally opt for higher studies or pursue entrepreneurship. In case no campus placement is offered, students can explore other options for employability, such as applying for jobs through job portals, professional networking sites, or by directly contacting companies. They can also consider pursuing higher education or research in their field of interest or starting their own business.
