Computer Science is a highly competitive specialization in India with more than 60% majority of the youth aiming to apply for either Computer science or Information Technology in regards to Engineering. With companies like Microsoft and Amazon conducting mass recruitments all around the year, it has been important for students to understand the scope of computer science in India today.

  • The ranking for applications is dependent on two factors which are: the category you are applying in and your entrance exam score.
  • While it is comparatively competitive for students applying through the general category, the OBC, SC, and ST category have observed a steep rise in competition as well.
  • The safe number to get admissions for a computer science program in IIT Hyderabad would be to get a rank that is under 1000. To be more specific, to have complete assurance it will be more accurate if your ranking was around 600 to 800. With a rise in the number of applicants, the admissions process and ranking scheme are becoming more and more competitive every year.
  • Based on last year's data, the opening rank for CSE under the general category was 203 in round 1 and closed at 616 in round 7.
