How are hostels allotted in IIT Hyderabad?

IIT Hyderabad has two accommodation options. Every student is allotted a single room irrespective of their year. Students are allotted double occupancy rooms.

Here is how these accommodation options are assigned to students of various courses

• B.Tech students both boys and girls are usually allotted single rooms in the new permanent hostel
• M.Tech makes students allotted double occupancy rooms in the first year and a single room in the second year
• M.Tech female students are allotted single rooms right from the first year
• Interns are allotted rooms in the temporary hostel and will be sharing 2 in a room.

It’s important to note that this pattern of allotment is not fixed but is usually observed.
