What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

There are several key factors that keep me associated with the dynamic and challenging world of education. First and foremost, being in this domain allows me to impart quality education to students and make them aware about their strengths and flaws and also how to channelize their energy in the right direction. In addition to this, education has the power to change the lives of the present as well as the next generation and knowledge can fuel a person’s determination to live in the world autonomously and encounter any circumstances bravely. Also, we as mentors of young and ambitious minds get numerous opportunities to inculcate in them required moral values such as honesty, generosity, courage, freedom, equality and respect, frame their characters right from childhood and make them socially responsible citizens. Additionally, when a person receives the right kind of education, he/she can live a dignified life and inequality in the world can be bridged among social classes, because although the routes of gaining knowledge are bitter, its fruits are sweeter.

Last but not the least, academics makes the world a better place to live and today’s students are going to be tomorrow’s leaders, hence we are directly involved in contributing to the development of a more reliable nation and the world and the happiness, satisfaction and pride that comes with it makes the education sector the best field to work with. Overall, we play a key role in making entrepreneurs, scientists and take crucial and wise decisions in administration which ultimately leads to overall development of the society in general and student community in particular.

Being the Principal of Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Engineering College, what is your philosophy of leadership?

In my opinion, a true leader leads people with a vision and has the capability of inspiring people with his/her work. Apart from this, a leader is always open for any kind of suggestions, feedback or opinion coming from the team and they know how to use the available resources and people skills to achieve a goal. Also, strategic & critical thinking, authenticity & self-awareness, open-mindedness & creativity followed by strong communication skills are some of the other key traits of a true leader. Hence, I work dedicatedly for the upliftment of our institution by maintaining the liaison between University, College Management, Students and their Parents, Academicians and Staff Members.

How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of your institute?

For the purpose of enhancing the reach of our college among our potential students and in the outside world as general, I along with my team rigorously work to identify the needs of our students and then select the proper strategies to collect and distribute grants and implement the things. And then we regularly monitor the progress of our strategies to make necessary improvements as and when needed. Also, we give our 100% efforts to ensure that students receive the best quality education, because we believe that the results of students work better than any marketing strategy for an institution.

In your opinion, how does the Indian education system differ from the foreign education system?

The Indian education system is predominantly based on the traditional model of teaching, which focuses on rote learning and imparting theoretical knowledge. In other words, in this system, students are evaluated primarily based on their ability to memorize information and reproduce it. On the other hand, students who study abroad develop a well-informed mindset and wider perspective towards other cultures and people after gaining practical skills. And then it doesn’t matter if you are studying Science, Politics or Finance, being able to think from a multinational perspective will help you face modern challenges and come up with innovative solutions in future. Apart from this, it opens up more job opportunities for the student in a variety of fields in the international markets. Universities overseas also provide numerous chances to students to work part-time while continuing a degree in addition to course flexibility.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practices of industry ?

The curriculum of our college is developed and upgraded regularly after rigorous analysis and consultation with industry experts to make sure that it stays in sync with the latest trends, technologies, developments and demands of the competitive corporate world. In addition to this, our college regularly organizes industrial visits, in-plant training, workshops, guest lectures, webinars and skills enhancement training programs for students so that they can grow on both personal and professional fronts. We have also made internships, R&D activities, certification courses and corporate training programs an integral part of the curriculum. And the main objective of all these approaches is to maintain high quality benchmarking of globally acceptable qualification standards, train students to work confidently in the outside world and enhance their skills so that they can apply their knowledge to resolve real time challenges.

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

I strongly believe that for teaching a diverse category of students careful consideration of their interests, learning style and abilities is very essential. And studies have shown that peer teaching can be an extremely effective strategy as it encourages independence and strengthens social relationships. Therefore we have created an inclusive and diverse environment on campus and have also adopted some innovative practices to ensure that people from different backgrounds can come together on a platform, share their unique ideas, knowledge, learn together and innovate by accessing opportunities and education. Apart from this, we cherish the diversity of people and treat everyone equally by giving them the same respect they deserve.

What are your key roles and responsibilities towards the Institute and students?

As a Principal, I am the academic and administrative leader of our college. And I am mainly responsible for planning and supervising the execution of annual academic plans and extra-curricular activities to ensure the overall development of the college. In addition to this, I need to maintain good relations with University authorities and act as a bridge between Management, Staff Members, Students Community and Parents with utmost commitment to maintain the dignity and decorum of the institute in the society.

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

In my opinion, our college should focus on making the institution a leading technical institute of academic excellence and imparting high quality education to students. Apart from this, we should prioritize the organization of innovative programs of global standards and create an atmosphere that inculcates patriotism and strong feeling of service to the nation among the students. Last but not the least, key goals of our institution should be to develop much needed technical skills in students for enhancing their employability opportunities and also to transform them as Entrepreneurs so that they do not become job seekers only but job givers also.

When you first came to the Institute, what was your vision for it and how far have you come in implanting them?

My vision when I joined the BVC Engineering College was to make it a premier technical institute by introducing all sorts of technically innovative programs and continuing existing activities, maintaining good industry-institution relations, and enhancing employment potential of students through academic excellence. Hence, I have organized several motivating sessions in collaboration with industrialists and eminent educationists of various other sectors in order to educate students from all over India, including those from the local and rural areas as well as other countries, so that they can become enlightened individuals and improve the living standards of their families, industry and society as a whole.

In addition to this, we have received accreditation from NBA and NAAC for delivering employment oriented education to students and academic results of all branches have also been amazing. Also, many of our students at present are working in reputed companies and MNCs and the credit goes to none other than the Training and Placement Cell of our college. Then, there was a need for the establishment of a separate building for carrying out R&D activities and it has been fulfilled in my tenure during the last 2 years. So now all the research activities are being carried out in an effective manner under the supervision of our respected Director, Head of R&D Department and myself.

What would you like people to know about your institute that makes it unique and different from others?

Until 1997, our Konaseema area did not have even a single Engineering College. Hence with a great vision and strong commitment of imparting quality education to students, our Chairman Bonam Venkata Chalamayyagaru established BVC College. Also, it's worth mentioning that the students of Konaseema are not financially sound but have abundant common sense and knowledge. And BVCEC helped them to become the best engineering professionals and entrepreneurs at global level.

What are some of the greatest strengths of your BVC college?

The main pillars of our college’s strength is the great vision and strong commitment of our Founder Chairman who established BVC College to cater to the needs of aspirants especially from Konaseema area. Apart from this, our institution is located away from the chaos of the city, on a huge area of 70 acres of land and is surrounded with greenery and peaceful ambiance. Other than this, we have well-established and sophisticated labs and hostels followed by industry-driven curriculum to fulfill the industry and society needs. Last but not the least, we have an amazingly strong network of alumni, highly qualified and experienced faculty members and excellent training and placement records. And we have received numerous accolades and awards for our quality service and education quality. Therefore, I would say that after vision and mission, all these factors together make our institution strong and resilient.
