Due to late admissions in our college because covid delay there was a problem in 1st semester it was short other than that rest the examinations are timely and moderately difficult one needs to go through previous years' question papers for exams.
I chose for law i.e., B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) 5 Years Integrated Course in Panjab University. This department is named as University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) at Panjab University. The faculty members are super friendly, especially with the newcomers. They try to resolve every issue faced by students at their level. The average teacher student ratio is 1:60 as there are 360 seats for candidates applying for B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and they are divided into two main streams, separate for Arts and Commerce students, then again got divided into sections. The medium of teaching is English. The term exams are held after every 5-6 months of period and are really not that hard but you have to struggle for good markings, obviously.
The exams are held timely. If you study well it is not very difficult to pass. Attending the classes makes you learn enough to get at least 70% marks. For the rest, we have to work hard. The teachers are very good and interactive. They listen to students and are very friendly which makes learning easier.
The course is designed keeping bar council of India recommendations. It is divided into 10 semesters and usually one sem if of six months. I was interested in the law from the beginning, I founded law as a basis of life and I had a deep fascination with law. The faculty is highly trained and most of the associate professors have 20-25 years of experience in their hands and the student-professor ratio is good we have 6 sem each for one subject and they are helpful towards students. The majority of faculty are Ph.D. holders and have brilliant teaching starting from zero levels which are understandable to all. They emphasize more on practical learning rather than on theory. The terms year exams were as per the university schedule and they were not difficult to pass for one who has covered basics.
I chose this course because Panjab University is a highly prestigious university and it is one of the top universities of India. In every batch of B.A LLB (Hons) there are 180 students. Faculty members in our Department are good. They provide holistic development and are always available. Most of them are qualified PhD and provide knowledge of concepts and motivates to explore more. Mostly they teach on the projector and provides practical knowledge. There are many female faculty members.
The course curriculum is apt and well updated every year. Many competitions and fests are organised. Career development cell provides opportunities for various internships. These internships provide practical knowledge of law
The courses in the whole campus is regulated by Panjab University as a whole and it is very much updated to the change of time and is very well designed for an excellent understanding of the course. The acdmic facilities are also very upto date in every department because the faculty there is quite effective and efficient in doing so.
The fees structure of the most university departments is feasible and reasonable but for a few departments like UILS the fee is a lot higher than the other departments due to some private stake in the department. Annual fee is approximately 85k, which is not reasonable and feasible. Admission fee is charged as well and the total fee is very high. The college does not provide much transparency in the fee breakdown, the fee is generally divided into two heads one goes to the University Registrar account and the other to the Department's Director.
The fee amounts to almost 1 lakh per year which is quite expensive. The fee is 84400 for the first year, 88700 for the second year, 93200 for the third year, 97900 for the fourth year and 102800 for the final year amounting to 467000 in total. But there are scholarships provided by the college to which all students can apply.
BA LLB is a five year integrated course. There is over one eighty seats for this particular course including NRI plus four single girl child. As per University's latest handbook of information which is published at the start of every academic session(2019-20) the fees for the course is determined. However the course fee is affordable
