Good exposure in terms of industry visits and internships
Good faculty who are very experienced in tbeir subjects
The vibe, community is good, open minded people

Dislikes

Too much openness , easy to get distracted
Few faculties are not veryy cooperative.
Fees is quite huge as compared to other design colleges

I considered this college as i dont want to do anything regular or common. I wanted to do something new and unique. And fashion always excited me. And in nift , bftech course was very apt for me as I'm not into designing as such but fashion and apparel is what i love

I like my course structure , the quality of time and the mentoring sessions help me alot
General elective subjects which have less credits but so much new and fun things to learn
Mainly i like how they teach us how to be presentable infront of all and my communication skills got better

Dislikes

the amount of pressure during jury and time lins , deadlines of assignments , ihate group works
The food , it's nit at all healthy and no proper hygiene is been maintained
Groupism among people of different states like South and North , and tge cultural differences

Admission:

I was very into designing from the last Covid time and really wanted to join 'National Institute of Design' or NID from my degree but i give the exam but haven't got selected in second round which was the studio test ,other than NIFT i also applied for UCEED and NATA basically architecture and design for both and also for JEE as I took PCM , but after the results NID doesn't have enough seats for general category and for architecture i was not sure as it was 5 years of course so I decided to opt for NIFT for bachelor of fashion technology qs it was new to me and i was really excited to explore this flied and I'm happy with the results and in academics im doin6 great taking equal oart in class assignments so overall i love this subject.

Likes

The quality of teaching is good we do have a lot of extra curiculars to paritcipate in .
As its a national college you get a lot of exposure to a lot of things .
Good companies do ckme here for campus placements but wouldnt hire you just cause of the degree that you have but you will have to prove what you are

Dislikes

Girl to boy ratio is 10:1 which is not so good
A lot of college politics which is kind of unbearable at time
Evaluation or marking mostly depends kn the faculties mood

Admission:

Talking of my course it need pcm in 12th for eligibility to appear for the exam plus a good rank to get it into top 3 clgs , and about other colleges that i did apply for were pvt clgs so it doesnt make sence to go to pvt clg when u are getting into top 3rd clg in india , I did get accepted by a lot of clgs but i willingly choose this course

NIFT IS NOT ALL ABOUT GLAMOUR BUT HARDWORK

Likes

The faculty is approachable to all the students of different departs and give constrive feedbacks. The teaching methods of faculty are modern they use smart boards, educational trips to different museums is also very helpful.
I like the infrastructure of the department floors(AD, FD, TD) the labs are built according to the needs of design student.
The campus life is great, juniors and seniors interact with each other with no difference and no fear of ragging. By the evening student council hosts alot of events like thrift swap, festival celebration, literature events, etc.

Dislikes

The infrastructure of the classroom/studios for the foundation students( 1st years) can include modern designed interior.
Sometimes the faculties restrain us going out of the bow which might be right according to them because we need to clear our basics first but been in a design school a student want to explore more.

Admission:

I have applied for NIFT,NID, UCEED, UID(private college). I was not serious for taking the entrance exam of NID and UCEED since it does not offer the course I wanted but anyway I gave the test just for the experience but I did not get in. UCEED was difficult for me as it was more mathematics-based. I got into a private college- UID since the fees structure is expensive and considering their curriculum, I was not interested also I got into NIFT as well so I chose NIFT over UID because why not. Admission process for NIFT- it has its own exam process. There are two rounds that students need to clear to get into NIFT 1st round - GAT( general ability test) CAT( creative ability test) GAT has questions related to general knowledge, current affairs, mathematics, and english. Total of 100 questions more weightage is on english and then maths. 2 hours. It has 30% weightage CAT has total of 3-4 question related to design in which students need to complete these tasks in 3 hours. 30% weightage

i really liked the infrastructure and facilities provided in terms of sewing machines and dress forms to work with.
the faculties push you to be meritorious and take active participation in all events and activities outside of college
the department continuously tries to introduce new course programmes which keep changing according to the market demands

Dislikes

some faculties were biased in the sense of giving marks for assignments.
the students are very mean with their peers
the lab assistants are very strict regarding what they teach , if you have any doubt about anything they won’t help you at all

nift is on top in the list of fashion schools in india. alongside , i had also applied at NID ahmedabad but i did not get selected. i also applied for pearl academy in mumbai but they only provide a diploma degree which i did not want. the admissions process happens in 2 rounds, one is the aptitude test of 100 marks , which includes 70% of aptitude in drawing and 30% theory like quantitative analysis, logical reasoning and english comprehension. once you pass this round, there is round 2 called the situation test in which they provide material and a situation and you have to make a product . and once you clear that round, a merit list is announced and on the basis of your merit number, you get admission.

Nift comes under the ministry of textiles and that is owned by the government of india, it has the reputation so to be honest i didnt apply for another college after i heard about nift For the admissions they conduct entrance exams , the forms are out in mid October and closes by end of december In entrance exam they have 2 levels Level 1 is CAT ( creative ability test) And GAT (general ability test) And if you get shortlisted by level 1 You'll be giving situation test

I like how you're put in a competitive environment which always helps you to push yourself and your limits
The faculty in my department is very experienced and knowledgeable and most of them have been in the industry before joining the college so they help in guiding the students
I also really like the resource centre at my college as it introduces me to new books and knowledge which i otherwise wouldn't have even known exist

Dislikes

The management is really bad and ends up causing unnecessary trouble
I dislike the fact that my college refuses to provide basic softwares like photoshop and illustrator for us to install in our personal device
The gender ratio at my college is bad as there are only 5 to 6 boys in my class of 39

I had not applied to many colleges as the college entrance exams were overlapping with the schedule for my pre boards and practicals. So for the NIft entrance exam i had joined a coaching online to guide me through the whole process. The entrance consists of three tests which you have to give. The first one is the Creative ability test (CAT) which consists of the drawing part of it. The second one is the General Ability Test (GAT) which consists of the logical reasoning and english as well as the english comprehensions and the general knowledge test. If you are able to clear the first two exams you are qualified to give the third exam which is the Situation test in which you are provided with a question and ypu have to design as well as prototype and make a model for it. Then as for the other exams i gave which was UCEED i think i did not make it as i was not able to give enough time to it for preparation which was needed as i had other things going on not to mention how tough the exam

WORLD OF NIFT GANDHINAGAR

The campus is really welcoming and clean. First year students need that welcoming vibe and aura around themselves which NIFT GNR offers by including various activities and fun filled events so that it’s easy for new students to accept the place.
The main campus building itself is an example of a complex thus beautiful design. Campus includes mess, gym, stationary, doctors for physical and mental well being along with hostel and playgrounds for sports activities.
The faculty is brilliant ranging from all senior faculty who themselves are a graduate from NIFT to guest faculty which teach extra side subjects for personal development. Teachers are very open minded to the ideas and thus they’re friendly too.

Admission:

Every year the forms are released around september/october. Nift consists two rounds- CAT(drawing) and GAT(general aptitude) and once you clear these two round they conduct a last round called- SITUATION TEST( where they provide materials and topic on the spot and you have to make model right there at NIFT centers nearest you). Anyone who has completed their 10+2 can give the test Its a 4 year course for bachelors (B.Des) and 2 years course for masters (M.FM/M.Des). You have to give test for both. If you're an artisan you're given the top most priority. I think the only thing that they can improve is in making their website better as it has been legacy that is still continuing- when the results are out the website hangs and then it takes 1-2 days to get it fixed then they release the results again.

Peer to peer learning, high end personality visit of guidelines and ideas mentorship by various entraprenures teachers and counselling sessions other industrial activities
Food and living standard social leverage
Culture and experience, eco friendly environment and good staff

Dislikes

No hostel for boys, local food is very low quality
Less boys in college and some people have ego clashes

Admission:

Graduation in any field of study. There is an application form for around 3000 rs. There is SC st and OBC quota which helps you in the time of selection process from all over India. I would like to see an improvement in the admission process is no updates on time. Helpline no never helps in terms of selection.
