NIFT Shillong Admission 2024: NIFT Counselling 2024 is ongoing for allocation of seats for admission to B.Des and M.F.M at NIFT Shillong. The last date for choice filling and modification for Round 3 of NIFT Counselling 2024 is July 7, 2024. Candidates can fill and update their choices @ nift.admissions.nic.in. NIFT Counselling 2024 Round 3 Seat Allotment will be released on July 9, 2024. The last date of admission withdrawal at NIFT Shillong with full fee refund is July 19, 2024.
About NIFT Shillong
National Institute of fashion technology (NIFT) Shillong, a new entrant in the consortium of the NIFTs, was established in 2008. There are only 16 NIFTs in India, NIFT Shillong being one of them is a leader in the fashion education industry in the state of Meghalaya. Currently, the institute offers two four year UG programs- Fashion Design and Accessory design and one two year PG program- Master of Fashion Management. It is an autonomous institute and it is approved by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT Shillong is the first premier fashion institute in North East India. It was ranked 13th among all the participating institutes by the survey conducted by The Week in 2022.

NIFT Shillong Admission
To take part in the admission process of NIFT Shillong the students must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria and also appear in the NIFT Entrance exam. The candidates with higher scores will be given preference. Below are the details regarding the admission process.
- To take admission in the B.Des course, the candidates will have to fill the form for the entrance examination. The entrance examination for B.Des is three-tiered. The candidates will have to appear in a Creative Ability Test (CAT) and a General Ability Test (GAT). The last stage will be a Situation test, candidates who pass all these three tiers will be eligible to take admission in the esteemed institute.
- Admission to the MFM course is a two-tiered process. The candidates will have to appear in a General Ability Test (GAT) followed by Group Discussion/ Personal Interview.
Candidates will be ranked by a consolidated mark which will be obtained giving different weightage to the marks obtained by them in different tiers. Below are the details on the weightage of different tiers.

NIFT Shillong Placements
Every year, a centralized placement drive is organized for all the NIFTs. There are two options for the students to opt i.e. Pre Placement Offers (PPOs) or On-Campus Placements (OCPs). PPOs are made when students undergo any training/ internship in any organization as part of their course curriculum.
The highest package offered to the students in the previous year was INR 5 LPA whereas the average package was INR 3.88 LPA. Some prominent recruiters in the placement drive were Amazon, Raymonds, Reliance, Aditya Birla Nuvo, Snapdeal, ITC, TVS Motors, VIP, Nokia, Titan, Future Groups, and many more.

NIFT Shillong Scholarship
The institute has a scheme called “SARTHAK’ under which it offers financial assistance to the needy students based on their family income. There are also different awards and scholarship programs from the corporate sector in partnership with the institute. Companies like ITC, Homeshop 18 also provide scholarships & awards to the meritorious students. There is also a scheme named “UDAAN” which is to provide assistance to foreign students.

- Library: The institute has a library consisting of 3300 books, 12 magazines subscribed, 11 newspapers, 60 forecasts, and many other e-resources.

Ques. Where is the Campus located?
Ans. The NIFT Shillong permanent campus is at Umsawali, which is a part of the newly growing Shillong township. But, as the permanent campus is still under construction, the institute is currently using its transit campus which is the Old North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science campus.
Ques. When the entrance examination notification gets released?
Ans. The notification usually comes out in October, the written exam to shortlist aspirants gets conducted in January and the last stage of the process happens in April/ May.
Ques. What is the student intake in different programs?
Ans. The student intake in NIFT Shillong for B.Des (FD) and B.Des (AD) is 43 and for MFM the intake is 45.

For the admission you need to give and Entrance Exam. The Exams are held every year and registration starts during November to December. You will find the registration link on the NIFT official website. There are reservations benefits and home domicile options. The exam are held on All India Level and these exams are taken into two levels that is CAT and GAT whereas CAT is creative ability test and GAT is general ability.

Admission:
Nift is the best and topmost college in India. Nift Shillong ranks 3th last on the top nift campuses. The teaching staff is amazing with the best-qualified faculties. The environment is very inspiring and beautiful but it is away from the main city so it is isolated. You can apply for nift Delhi placements from Shillong as well hence it is the best college. Right now it is online thus the quality has decreased and in this, they have increased the fee which looks worthless but I am hoping that the college will open soon and everything will be normal.

Course syllabus was intresting as always we learn new thing. Faculties are good always there teching style is differnt. Aurnita das she is strict but good faculity. In every 6 semerter they provide us industrial exposure.
