The course here is heavy. You have to learn mathematics thrice as the other bachelor courses in India, statistics is twice as the other bachelor's degree and the physics courses here are equivalent to the courses in a normal bachelor's degree and CS courses are quite similar to what is studied in IIT in first two years. And one has to do all these courses within 3 years here. So the curriculum is heavier than any other university in India. But the positive part is we get to learn so much. We are efficient enough for mathematics, statistics, and CS jobs and of course research jobs. If one can handle the pressure it's amazing.

Students can apply for placements after bachelors. But mostly do after masters, every student who applied for placements is placed, but a lot of students opt for PhD programs instead. All top companies like JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley come for placements.

Students get placement offers in the first year of M.Stat. In general, however, most students prefer to go abroad for higher studies. Students who sit for placements mostly get placed in Finance and Analytics companies, typically in Business Analyst, Risk Analyst and other roles. ISI has a 100% placement record for B.Stat- M.Stat students. Companies like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., JP Morgan & Chase, Amazon, etc. come for placements. Last year, the highest package offered was 56 lpa with the package being 28 lpa. M.Tech CS had the highest overall package at 89 lpa.
Placement is always 100% successful because the institute has good tie-ups with the industry. With an average salary of INR 19 LPA the institute offers a successful placement drive. Companies like Reliance, Deloitte etc come for placement.
Indian Statistical Institute of Kolkata offers PGDBA course jointly with IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata. The program is residential and each institute makes suitable arrangements for the program. The candidates must hold a graduate degree with minimum 60% marks or its equivalent CGPA for the continuation of the program.
Indian Statistical Institute is a popular institute in quality education. I want to pursue an academic/research career in Statistics and allied fields and that was why I joined for post graduation in ISI. The admission is merit based on graduation marks and written admission test.
Admission process: This point is completely discussed in the admission process section of "What were the factors that made you choose this College/Institute/University?"Test pattern and interview questions: (I) The syllabus of the exam includes the entire syllabus of IITJEE along with some additional topics like Euclidean geometry and Number Theory. (II) Written exam is held in two phases: Objective (UGA) where one has to solve 30 questions in 120 mins(marking scheme is +4 if correct answer, +1 if unanswered, 0 if wrong) and Subjective (UGB) which contains 8 questions.(III) In the interview, typically one will be asked 4-5 questions on an average but the professors are helpful and give hints if a student gets stuck.Preparation: Problem solving is the key thing. One should try to solve the entire book Test of Mathematics at 10+2 Level(aka TOMATO) published by ISI. Additionally, I also used to take coaching for ISI entrance.
Students become eligible for campus placements right after completing their B.Math(Hons) degree, i.e after their 6th semester. Companies like Microsoft, Google, LinkedIn, Wipro, and other Multinational Companies visit and every student gets an offer from one company or the other. The package ranges from 10LPA to 25LPA. Those students who opt for placement after their B.Math(Hons) course is over, all get a placement offer while most of the students prefer to continue their Master's Degree. I too would like to complete my Master's Degree after my bachelor and think about further options thereafter.
Students become eligible for placement after the 5th semester. However, most of the students opt for higher studies but whoever sits for placement is placed. There has been 100% placements for the last two years. The highest package offered is 22 LPA and the average being 14LPA. Top recruiters include Walmart Labs, Chegg, etc. The places offered are in programmers, RND, analysts, etc. However, I will more likely go for higher studies abroad.
ISI is the best place for statistics in india. It has world class professors and providing great education, demands of statistics are dam high in today's world with so much data out there, also here is no tution fees / hostel fees and you will get amount 40k yearly stipend during B. Stat degree, world class faculty, these are the reason for why I choose this institute.
Having to know some people studying at both Simsree and KJ Somaiya and here are some things that you should know. They both are equally good.
Irrespective of where you go, your responsibility is to get better, participate in competitions, do certifications, and improve yourself holistically. The institute cannot impose anything if you have no intention of doing it.
