Here’s what students say about their experience at the Georgia Institute of Technology University:

Ridam Srivastava from 2024 batch (M.S Computer Science) says "Georgia Tech offers great research opportunities with professors from various CS specializations. The environment is welcoming, and there's a lot of flexibility when it comes to choosing or changing your specialization. However, the administrative department can be slow, especially during admissions. Additionally, securing funding is often more about networking than merit."

Aditya Kumar from 2023 batch (M.S Computer Science) says "The campus at Georgia Tech is large and beautiful, with a strong academic atmosphere. The course structure is challenging, and while the professors are knowledgeable, they’re not always easy to access. One downside is the safety of the surrounding area, although campus security does a good job keeping things under control."

Someet Chintam from 2023 batch (M.S Chemical Engineering) says "The faculty and students here are highly intelligent and motivated, which pushes me to do better. The campus life is good overall, but accommodation is expensive, especially since the university is located in midtown. Georgia Tech's Chemical Engineering program is top-notch, and I'm glad I chose this university, despite the high living costs."

Campus Life

  • The main campus is in Atlanta only; there is one other campus in China and some other partner programs in Europe.
  • We have all major facilities available: a large gymnasium with swimming pool, football grounds, squash, tennis, and badminton courts; a dedicated health centre with medical and dental facilities; three libraries with quiet spaces; and grad lounges.
  • We have a major hackathon event that takes place here at GT and a grand welcome celebration week for freshmen.
  • The Indian students club is quite active and hosts events on Diwali, Ganpati, New Years, etc. and has stalls, food and performances
  • The major extracurricular activities are the football leagues that attract a lot of attention; other sports like basketball and volleyball matches are also very regular and lot of colleges compete in them.

Fees

  • Tuition: approx. 16,000 USD per semester
  • Insurance and other college amenities: approx. 1500 USD per semester
  • Fee is paid sem-wise; usually there are 4 semesters for the course
  • It is required to register for a minimum of 12 credits (4 courses) every semester.
  • Avg rents: 650-1000 USD ( ranging from sharing to non-sharing)
  • Average monthly living expense ( with food and utilities and for single room): approx. 1200 USD

  • Its a 400 acre open campus. So counting how many campus the college have isn't easy.
  • It's one big connected campus through the Georgia Tech Bus services.
  • Few facilities are always available in the campus as it provides stay for the faculty in the campus.
  • Almost all the major festivals through out the world is celebrated in the campus. One just needs to be aware of that.
  • There several communities one can join to know about all these. Or follow all the pages related to Georgia tech to know what, when and where the festivals are being celebrated.
  • Georgia tech excel in sports we have CRC for everyone to go there and practice whatever sport one would like to play.

Fees

  • Every course has different fee structure, but for Masters in Computer Science.
  • I could say that each semester is capped at 12 credit hours, costing approximately $17,400, with each credit hour priced at around $1,400.
  • Health insurance costs an additional ~$1,200 per semester. Monthly living expenses are approximately $1,500 for individual student housing but can be reduced to $900-$1,000 if sharing a room, making it more affordable.

Overview

Georgia Tech is the 2nd best public school in the US for Chemical Engineering. But this is not the only reason to choose Gatech, there were several factors and a lot of research behind it. I also got admitted to some of the best universities. I created a preference matrix that helped me to choose the best one and Gatech stood out as the the best out of that. My initial experience was tough because the course was rigorous and it was not easy to cop up with all the stuff at once after landing in this company. But now it's pretty good as I am used to and have a lot to learn.

Too good. Whatever the question is related to campus life my answer will be the same. And I think it will answer all the questions.

Overview

"I had to submit 3 LoRs, SoP and CV. Key points for SoP: 1. Should be a coherent story with the following points. 2. Why I chose ECE? 3. Why you chose this area? 4. Choice of advisors with reasons 5. Why I chose this university? CV: Mentioned research project/publications in detail. Mentioned other important projects." Based on my advisor's research. Also, ECE program at Georgia Tech is one of the best programs in US for research. The overall experience is excellent.

Overview

Yes, CV, SOP, LOR. I had an Australian patent on my name with heavy bug bounty rewards in 4 figures. Public university with heavy funding and 2nd ranked for the course of Cybersecurity makes it the best school to study without incubating heavy loans The experience was the best uplift my life could ever get at this young age, I have graduated with high paying job, abundance of knowledge and experience with a very low tuition loans. What else do you need?

Overview

My overall experience at Georgia Tech is academically challenging but educating. There’s so many clubs to make friends and the campus is so beautiful to relax in the nature while also having modern and high tech features in the library. Georgia Tech is an amazing school and would highly recommend for people who are academically gifted and want great job placements too.

There are so many extracurricular clubs! Lots of different diverse clubs like Asian American club and also sports club like volleyball and badminton which are fun. The library is very new and has two cafes in it with quiet floors too. The Wi-Fi isn’t slow but sometimes it disconnects but it’s still great.

Good teachers and professors, a respected university, great recruiting history, a good place to learn, not too bad weather conditions, interesting research, public university - so moderate tuition fees.

Overview

GT is a big name, especially in the south. The department is relatively new, extremely knowledgeable, really cohesive and extremely supportive. They gave me the best funding.

Fees

I am not entirely sure because I don't pay it but I think its about 35-40k/semester.

Overview

The key governing factor for my selection of Gatech was the research work pursued by my advisor and the overall research culture in the college. Other secondary reasons were overall university ranking, ranking in the particular department/area I plan to study, location in terms of city vs university town etc.

Fees

Approx. 15,000$ per semester and usually it takes 3-4 semester in MS program and 10 semesters in PhD (although you most likely will get funding in yout PhD)

12+3 yr bachelors degree is eligible for MS computer science abroad??
R
Rubab
Jul 5, 2022 14:06

Yes, it is possible to do an MS program in Computer Science abroad after a 3-year bachelor's degree. Check university requirements and subject requirements for the program. Most universities in USA or Canada allow a 3 years bachelor's degree. You may also try Germany, Australia, the UK, and other European universities. Few universities gauge your application holistically and can consider you for the course.
