What students say about Georgia State University

Likes

  • Pretty good. I have been a part of the research committee at my college for a year now.
  • We have career fairs, but it is good to be active on LinkedIn and participate in as many hackathons as possible.
  • I received the Campus Atlanta Scholarship, which is basically an out-of-state waiver. So, I am paying the in-state tuition, which is quite cheap compared to the out-of-state one.
  • Campus infrastructure is definitely one of the best that Ive seen.
  • Other than that, I think you get a really nice exposure to different kinds of classes in which you are allowed to explore and choose your professors

Dislike

  • The fees are ridiculous, especially when you are a commuter like me. I dont live on campus, so half of those fees arent even being put into work. It sucks because it is totally a waste of money

  • Dislikes:
  • I seriously dislike the lack of security that we have in our school. It is so hard to get in touch with police and there was a violent incident almost every week. I do not feel safe

Overview:

I chose this college as it was the cheapest, most diverse, in the state and had a great Hospitality program. Georgia State is a very diverse and great college for people who want to work in business or nursing given that is right in the city and we have access to amazing companies and networking. However, the inference instructor could be better – I wish we had more of a campus that made it feel like a campus culture – the campus is very open to the hustle and bustle of downtown, which is not really a great thing when it comes to safety and community and I think it affects the number of students we have engaged in afterschool activities. Because of the environment we are in, lots of students like to go to class and go straight home, so although there are lots of programs that are happening very less students take advantage of them.

Fees:

Not sure because I don’t pay anything thanks to HOPE.

Overview:

I was offered a graduate teaching assistantship role which would offer me a 100 percent tuition waiver. So, I chose this college. I am an ECE student. I wanted to explore the CS domain.

Fees:

17000 Dollars per sem. But if you get an assistantship, the fee will be 1700 dollars (Health insurance part).

  • Dislikes:
  • It’s in downtown Atlanta. It can be a bit unsafe, and the university will take a while to release funds,
  • As well as not having a small class ratio, which can impact how students interact with the professor.

Overview:

It’s near my home and accepts all my AP scores. It also accepted the Hope Scholarship in my state. It has been very good, I’ve been able to grow a lot and even be a lab teaching assistant! I am also very involved in the club and am on several executive boards!

Campus Life:

So far my experience in computer science at Georgia State University has been really good. The faculties are good and they also provide you with sufficient study material in order to learn the concepts well. There are many research opportunities at Georgia State University. Unfortunately I was not able to secure that but some of my friends got into research position even during undergrad under some professor. The infrastructure is really good at Georgia University and also the extra curricular activities are quite good as wel. There are always some or other events going on in the universities where you can participate which may be related to different cultures, business, job fairs, etc. There is universal Wi-Fi across all the buildings and the campus. Georgia State University is also known for its research facilities, there are many research going on and Georgia State University even compensates students for participating in research. We have three libraries in total and all of them are very good. Georgia State University also has a student recreation center which is extremely well equipped with every type of sport you can imagine.

  • Dislikes:
  • Cost of living : US life can be expensive, budgeting is Key,
  • Large class sizes : Some introductory courses could be crowded.,
  • Off-campus housing : Finding the right accommodation can be a hassle.

Overview:

Georgia state's Atlanta campus wasn't just a college, it was a springboard for my entrepreneurial dreams. Choosing wasn't easy - the admission process, with its standardized tests and essay prompts, felt like scaling a mountain. I prepped relentlessly, pouring over GMAT textbooks, attending online seminars, and even joining a coaching institute back in Nashik. But it wasn't just about formulas and scores. I delved deep into my entrepreneurial vision, Crafting and compelling application that showcased my passion and potential. Clarkston resonated with me - its focus on practical learning, diverse faculty, and vibrant startup ecosystem mirrored my own aspirations. In the end, it wasn't just about getting in, it was about finding the perfect launchpad for my future, and clarkston fit the bill like a tailored suit.

Fees:

Let's the real, studying in the US ain't cheap. Georgia state's tuition hit hard, but I wasn't about to let finances stall my dream. Thanks to the "Global Atlanta" scholarship, I snagged a sweet chunk of funding, covering nearly half my tuition. The fees were semester based, so budgeting and planning were key. On top of tuition, books and living expenses added up, but I hustled hard. Part time gigs at the campus cafe covered day to day needs, and i even scored gigs wit local startups, putting my new skills to use and earning some extra cash.

I have two questions: 1. Do you offer scholarships to international students in 1st year undergraduate degree programme 2. Do you offer admissions to students at their preferred / convenient campus other than main / down town campus 3. IELTS score 7 with Cambridge curriculum schooling suffice?

  • Scholarships for International Students: Yes, Georgia State offers various scholarships for international undergraduate students. Check their website for specific opportunities and eligibility requirements.
  • Campus Admissions: Generally, Georgia State allows students to indicate their preferred campus during the application process. However, availability may vary, so it's best to confirm with the admissions office.
  • IELTS and Cambridge Curriculum: An IELTS score of 7 is typically considered sufficient. Additionally, completing the Cambridge curriculum may help demonstrate English proficiency, but check with the admissions office for specific requirements.
