  • Post-Study Placement opportunities are amazing at Wisconsin-Madison, with many alumni getting placed at reputed companies!
  • Yes, I received a full scholarship after high school funded privately, rather than through the university.
  • Campus life is absolutely amazing, with so many things to do on campus, such as club activities, international student events, technical events, and so on.
  • University housing is the best option, but it needs to be booked well in advance as it tends to fill up very fast.
  • The Faculty to Student ratio is pretty good, especially with respect to Statistics courses, where the class strength is no more than 20 students!

  • Dislikes:
  • Community- Personally, I would have liked more outreach support,
  • Segregation fees- In spite of having a stipend, we had to pay segregation fees which can be financially demanding

Overview:

I chose this university because of following factors- 1. Funding in the form of a TA position 2. Opportunity to delve into an exciting field of research (AI in smart manufacturing) 3. One of the top 150 universities in the world. Overall, it is challenging at times, it was an invigorating and rewarding experience and equipped me with a diverse set of skills from AI to biomechanics.

Fees:

Without funding the amount per year would be $43265.

  • Dislikes:
  • Cold - it gets really unbearable during the winters,
  • Lack of affordable grocery stores nearby,
  • Limited buses at night time, that is after 8pm,
  • Limited Sunlight during winters

Overview:

I chose this university because of following factors: • Courses - flexibility in selection & wide range of courses • Affordable tuition fees • Good ranking for Industrial Engineering Overall, it was a new and unique experience, could explore diversity in terms of people, infrastructure, events, food. Had to take academics seriously. Good faculty support. Different approaches by different professors for teaching.

Overview:

3 LORS AND SoP were required. Skillsets directly related to field of study and reason for (if applicable) shift in field of study No I didn’t have any round of interviews. The best college out of current choices with a great program for my area The perfect college experience except for the weather which is very violent. We experience temperatures as low as -20. The crowd is good as the town is a university town and so we’re always surrounded by the people of same age group. Uni definitely has a party town reputation but it’s the best of both worlds. Connecting with people is slightly hard due to very undiluted crowds and still some racism

  • Dislikes:
  • I hate the location as there is nothing to do apart from the campus life as Madison is a very small city. The winters in Madison are brutal and being from a city where it never snows it is tough to manage.

Overview:

The university has amazing CS program and also have a balanced student life hence I chose this university. I would like to say my 1st semester was a mix and match of mixing in academics and also living alone which was nice.

  • Dislikes:
  • Weather is not very friendly but is manageable with the right set of clothes. All graduate level courses require you to read research papers on a regular basis and the projects will also be research centered. It will be difficult at first but you’ll soon get used to it.

Overview:

My experience has been very positive, got to learn so much from professors and peers and also have fun with other graduate students.

  • Dislikes:
  • While there are numerous aspects I adore about the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I must acknowledge a few challenges that have impacted my experience. One notable factor is the weather, particularly during the winters. The extreme cold temperatures can be quite daunting, and the shorter days with early sunsets sometimes give a feeling of melancholy. The university occasionally closes early due to inclement weather, which can disrupt schedules and affect productivity. Nevertheless, it's an opportunity to embrace the beauty of winter and indulge in cozy campus activities like hot cocoa gatherings or winter festivals.,
  • Another aspect that can pose difficulties is the course enrollment process. Being a public university, there is high demand for popular classes, and they tend to fill up quickly. This can occasionally result in challenges in securing all the desired courses, which may require careful planning and flexibility to create an optimal degree plan. However, the university's academic advisors and support services are available to assist in navigating these situations and finding alternative solutions.,
  • Additionally, the cost of living in Madison, including rental prices, can be quite high. This financial aspect can create some struggles for students, including myself, at times. However, it's important to note that the university offers various resources such as financial aid, scholarships, and part-time job opportunities to help alleviate these challenges. Exploring cost-saving measures, such as shared housing or seeking affordable off-campus options, can also contribute to managing expenses effectively.

Overview:

My experience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has been truly remarkable. Academically, I have been exposed to a wealth of knowledge and have had the opportunity to learn from esteemed professors who are experts in their fields. The university's rigorous academic programs have challenged me to think critically, expand my intellectual horizons, and develop valuable problem-solving skills. Beyond the classroom, I have grown tremendously as an individual. Moving to a new country and navigating the challenges of living independently has allowed me to develop resilience, adaptability, and self-reliance. The university's diverse community has provided a supportive and inclusive environment that has made the transition smoother, and I have formed meaningful connections with fellow students from all walks of life. One aspect I particularly treasure is the friendships I have forged. The university fosters a sense of camaraderie, and I have met incredible individuals who share my interests and passions. Collaborating on projects, engaging in stimulating discussions, and simply enjoying each other's company has enriched my experience and made my time at the university truly memorable. Moreover, I have had the opportunity to immerse myself in my passions. Whether it's participating in student organizations, joining clubs, or attending cultural events, the university offers a myriad of opportunities to pursue my interests. This has not only allowed me to engage in activities I am passionate about but has also broadened my perspective by exposing me to different cultures, traditions, and viewpoints. Reflecting on the past year, I can genuinely say that my experience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has been transformative. It has provided me with an excellent education, expanded my global outlook, and equipped me with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. I am grateful for the invaluable lessons learned, the friendships made, and the personal growth achieved during my time at this esteemed institution.
