The courses taught at the Thapar University are designed in a very unique way to make it easy for students to grasp the basics and use them for future advanced applications. The pdfs provided with other study material acts as wonderful notes which lessens the hassle of students for preparing notes. There could be an improvement in the attendance criteria as the students tend to ignore classes because of the ready made notes and pdfs provided. The exams and classes are designed keeping the comfort of the students which makes us ahead of several colleges in the country.

Curriculum is also fine. It's the same curriculum that is followed in IITs and other big colleges. You need not worry about that. Teachers will help you prepare you properly for your semester exams is lectures. Besides, we have Labs for hands on experience and even tutorials wherein we practice questions, solve doubts and basically prepare better for the exams.

Subjects are mostly your branch related but certain subjects feel useless. Branch related subjects are mostly interesting with a lab component and they prove to be relevant in the respective fields. The college tries to improve the curriculum but all of this is mostly focused for computer related branches. The other branches are treated in a secondary way. Exams are held timely, 2 exams each semester, during, March, May, October and January. The teachers teach during lectures but eventually students tend to study on their own only before exams.

Thapar follows LTP credits criteria. That is lectures, tutorials and practicals. So all in all the courses are pretty comprehensive but the marking of exams is very tough. The way if exams is Sessional Mid sem Sessional End sem

Being in the first year I feel the course is very well structured and it is quite wholesome including the subjects of all the domains and branches..we even have an ELC activity[Experiment Learning Curiculum] designed to make us familiar with our respective branches and prepare for the current industrial scenario. There are Mid-semester exams and End semester exams held during a tenure of 6 months which makes 1 complete sem. If studied well the exams are quite easy to crack.

The course syllabus and the subjects we are taught here are very relevant like in the first semester we were taught Engineering Drawing (AutoCAD etc), Manufacturing Processes , Mathematics , Physics , C and C++. The teachers are very qualified (most of them have a PhD from IITs or other ivy league colleges)
