Important Note: In order to calculate the aggregate marks at 10+2 Level for Scholarship, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English (Mandatory) are the four subjects that will be considered. Chemistry can be replaced by Biology, Biotechnology, or any other Technical Vocational subject, which was considered at the time of admission. Thapar University Scholarship for ME/M.Tech Students
Students admitted to M.Tech or ME courses at Thapar University are eligible for the following scholarships:
Scholarship from AICTE
Students with a valid GATE score will be considered to receive scholarships only if approved and the amount released by AICTE or any other funding agency. This scholarship is applicable only for intake approved by AICTE.
Scholarship from TIET
- Students with a valid GATE score who are getting the scholarship from AICTE or from any other funding agency as mentioned above will also be eligible for an additional scholarship of INR 5,000 per month from TIET.
- Students with a valid GATE score who are not getting the scholarship from AICTE or from any other funding agency will be offered a scholarship of INR 12,400 per month.
- ME/M.Tech Students who have not qualified GATE be offered INR 10,000 per month for 10 months in an academic year.
Students must have a minimum of 70% (65% for SC/ST) of Marks in the qualifying degree to avail of these scholarships. For continuation of the scholarship in the second year, candidates must have a minimum of 8.00 CGPA at the end of the first year with no backlog.
Thapar University Scholarship for M.Sc Students
General Category Students pursuing M.Sc at Thapar University are entitled to get merit-based scholarships. Three merit scholarships, one each of value of full, half, and quarter tuition fees respectively, will be awarded to the M.Sc students programme-wise and year-wise. The scholarship will be granted in the first year (2nd Semester) on the basis of performance (CGPA obtained) in the 1st Semester. For the 2nd Year, the scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit i.e. AGPA of 1st Year.
- Eligibility: Students should not have AGPA less than 8.00 and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration. The students must have also passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.
- Value of Scholarship: Scholarship awarded in the 2nd Semester will be the full value of the tuition fee. In the 3rd Semester, half amount of the tuition fee will be waived. And, in the 4th Semester, a quarter of the tuition fee will be waived.

Thapar University Scholarship for MCA Students
10% of the admitted strength of the MCA course at Thapar University are given scholarships based on their performance in academics. The scholarship amount for the Thapar University MCA is awarded in the second semester based on performance in the first semester. The scholarship amount for the second year will be awarded on the basis of the student’s performance in the first year.

It has categorised its fees according to the courses like for computer brances like COPC COBS COE it will cost you around 30L for 4 years including hostel and everything and for Electronics related branches it will be around 26-27L. There is an SBI bank branch also which will help you to get easy loan and college even support that. If you have decent rank then you will also get good amount of scholarship like TF/2 or full TF. And this scholarship is branch wise so many will get benefit of the scholarship.

Tution fee is very high you can day 20 lakhs for fours years and i am not including hostel fee and all so a lot of fee is there but scholarship of great amount is there for scholar students . if you are getting scholarship then its easy otherwise including hostels and everything it will cost you around 27-28 lakhs.

There is rule for increament of tution fees by 10% which is now almost 20lacs for 4 years with CSE branch having the maximum fees. The complete coat of my education is 18lacs including hostel as my branch was ECE. There are some scholarships provided to students who are top scorers like there is a friend of mine securing scholarships on merit basis which requires CGPA atleast greater than 9. Financial aids are also provides to students like in case of covid struck family who has lose of earning member. One can join clubs as there are dozens of them focusing on different perspective. How much scholarship will I get with 95.6% in CBSE boards in Thapar University?
Thapar University provides three kinds of merit scholarships. You fall in the first category.
Category 1 consists of students with 95% and more in their 12th exam. This is the eligibility requirement. The scholarship is actually given on the basis of JEE Mains score of the eligible candidates. This means that the top 25 students as per JEE Mains scores who also attained 95% and more in their +2 are awarded this scholarship.
Through this scholarship, the students’ tuition and development fees are waived off. To keep getting this scholarship throughout their degree, the students need to maintain 8.5 or more CGPA without any backlogs.

Is it difficult or easy to take scholarships from Thapar University?
At Thapar University, scholarships are offered under 2 categories
- Board score: Candidates whose board score is above 95% are eligible for this scholarship. Under this, the entire tuition and development fee is paid by the institute. Other scholarships under this category have a reduction of fees for a board score between 90–95% also. Students are eligible for this scholarship if they maintain an aggregate CGPA of 8.5 every year.
- CGPA Score: This category of scholarship is for students who make it to the top 10% of the students in terms of CGPA in their respective branches. In the first year, you will be evaluated on the basis of your JEE Main score.
The level of difficulty in availing of these scholarships depends on the category you fall into. Comparatively, the first category is easier as you need to maintain a CGPA of 8.5 while for the second one, you need a CGPA of at least 9.5+ to consistently make it into the top 10% of students in your batch.
Is it true that Thapar University offers scholarship to the top 3 three students of each discipline from 2nd year onward?
One of my friends graduated from Thapar University, he was a scholarship holder, So I think I can give you some information about the same.
According to the new rules at Thapar University, you will be getting a scholarship equal to the tuition fee of the current semester at Thapar University as per the following.
- If you are in the first year and you are among the top 10% of the scorers concerning JEE Main of your branch.
- If you are in the second year and your CGPA score is among the top 10% scorers of your branch irrespective of your JEE MAINS score.
You also have another way of getting a scholarship that falls under the category of ‘Merit cum Means’. If your father or any family member’s collective income is less than 3 lakhs (not sure of the amount but it should be around 3) and you have a good CGPA.
There’s also another Scholarship for students who score more than 95% in 12th Standard Board Exams which is equal to the tuition fee of two semesters i.e. full year. This scholarship gets continued till the Final year but with a stipulation to score CGPA greater than 8.5 in each year.
Is the IEP at Thapar University worth the money invested? Does Thapar University offer scholarships on the basis of needs or performance?
You must keep a few things in mind before applying for IEP at Thapar University. First of all, by applying for IEP the total cost for your UG degree will cross 40-50 Lakhs. Second, in order to study at TCD, you’ll have to maintain 8.5+ CGPA in all your semesters.
I am listing down a few pros and cons of IEP so that you can decide for yourself accordingly-
Pros-
- You’ll get your degree from TCD. This will enhance your profile.
- You’ll receive world class exposure in the field of research and technology.
- You’ll get to experience the culture and working style of the people of some other country.
Cons-
- It is very expensive, and you’ll be required to maintain 8.5 CGPA throughout.
- You’ll get a very short period of time to adapt to the culture and lifestyle of a European nation.
- In case you fail to perform well academically, you might end up jobless in a foreign land.
I would recommend you consider all these factors thoroughly before making a decision. If possible, consult a career counselor as well. Thapar University provides various kinds of scholarships to its students. You can check the official website for more details on the same.
