Life at an old college but new IIT

Remarks :

The college has a rich heritage as well as a promising future. The infrastructure has been up to the mark and is constantly updated to meet the need of the brilliant minds that come here. Over all, it's a fun place to be with, where they grow as a human. They learn how to live and be better at various disciplines.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is according to the syllabus at IITs which are the premier institute in the nation for engineering. The exams held in college are subjective with long answers for subjects and as the semester progresses, the studies go more specific.

Placement Experience :

The college has several branches in Earth Sciences which are exclusive to only this IIT. Branches like Mineral Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Engineering and Mining Machinery Engineering have top recruiters from across the globe coming for placements. The average package of the college is usually around 12LPA with the highest being close 40LPA.

College Events :

The college hosts a series of Cultural Fest, Technical Fest, Inter Departmental Cultural Fest and Sports Fest. Moreover the various clubs and several departments organise their fests throughout the year and ensure the college stays vibrant and lively all year round.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is feasible, considering it is an IIT but the Education Loans are lenient and is not an issue for most students. Most of the banks are eager to sanction loans to the students, thanks to the high placement ratio.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college offers various opportunities to meritorious students. Based on their college performances (GPA), they can be awarded scholarships upto 10000. The students can easily avail loan from SBI bank which is in the campus.

Campus Life :

Since 2016, when the college received IIT status, it has been sanctioned huge grants. The existing facilities were good enough but the new uograded badminton courts are being built. The labs and activities are good enough with modern equipments.

Hostel Facilities :

The college has many hostels. They are good enough with 24 hour water and electricity availability. I was a resident of Jasper hostel, the newest and largest boys hostel in the campus housing over 1500 B.Tech and research scholars. Overall, the hostels are good.

Alumni/Alumna :

The college boasts of the strongest alumni network among all IITs. Thanks to the beautiful senior junior relationship in college, they are always ready to help each other in every possible way. They really care a lot.

Admission :

Students have to qualify JEE Mains and JEE Advanced by securing the top 11000 rank out of 14 lakh students appearing for the same. Questions are MCQ based for the JEE Mains while the Advanced goes at deeper levels with questions ranging from MCQ with multiple correct answers and Integer type questions. Both exams have negative marking and are in CBT format.

Faculty :

The faculty as of now comprise mostly of professors from the old institution, ISM, but the new IIT is recruiting better and more qualified professors. Overall, the faculty are upto the mark and leave no stones unturned for the same.

Placement Experience:

As a student of the 4th year program, one can be eligible for placements after 6th sem or by passing 3rd year and after 4th sem/2nd year, students of 3rd year program are eligible for placement processes. almost 150 companies had visited this year and around 500 students are placed in many companies like cognizant, byjus, TCS, Deloitte etc. maximum package offered is 11 LPA and the average package is around 3.5-4 LPA. on a personal note, I want to pursue MTech after BTech, so for me, these placement record somehow not matters but if someone wants to go for higher studies, this college is best suited for them as because it provides all necessary things by which you can easily get into top IIITs.

Placement Experience:

In BIT Sindri, placements are good. In my college students are eligible from 3rd year to sit on-campus placement. They can also go for internships from the first year itself. Around 50+ companies visited in the year 2020. This is a little bit less due to covid 19. Some of the companies that visit regularly are Tata Steel, Vedanta, Aditya Birla group, TCS, TCS digital, Ericsson, etc. Highest package is 13 lakhs p.a being offered by Tata steel and the average package is around 6 lakhs p.a. Here around 50 to 60 percent of students are placed each year. In 2024 I will get my degree. My future plans are that I will give GATE exam. I want to be in under 100 rank so that I could get a job in PSUs or get MTech admission in IITs.
