What Students Say
Likes
- It's a student run campus which means that important decisions regarding students are taken by the student bodies.
- The campus is beautiful and lush. The architecture of buildings are well though of made to keep buildings cool during summers and hot during winters.
- The campus is very happening. Several cultural events occur.
Dislikes
- As the town Kashipur is not very developed, there is not much of metro-city life or such amenities
- The boys to girls ratio for core program is 4:1 and the opposite for the analytics program which makes the class interactions disproportionate, It should be uniform.
- You can't order food from online platforms here as the city is remote so one has to resort to the options present on campus which turns out to be pretty limited in number and quality.
Course Curriculum Overview
I find the courses offered and outlines to be very relevant and comprehensive for real-world applications. The books for all the courses are distributed to students from top publications like Pearson which are especially curated for the particular course in collaboration of the publication with the college's faculty. The teaching methods depend highly on the faculty however, I am pretty satisfied with most.
Internships Opportunities
For internships, companies come in various domains like GSK for Marketing, ICICI for Production, L&T for Operations, RBS for Finance, Greyamp for Consulting, etc. The stipend varies from Rs 15,000 per month to Rs 1,50,000 per month.
Placement Experience
As soon as the second year starts, companies start coming for placements. These include ICICI bank, Wellsfargo, Genpact, Amazon, TresVista, Havells, TVS, Tech Mahindra etc. The highest package goes around to be 40-50 Lacs while average is around 14-15 Lacs. Almost all get placed while the rest opt-out from the process either for off-campus offers or pursuing higher education.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for the 2 year MBA course is Rs 17,30,000. Admission fees is Rs 25,0000; Course Fee is Rs 16,96,000; Caution deposit (refundable) is Rs 9,000. The charges of Mess is not included in it, which accounts to be around Rs 30,000 per Term. Thus, for the two years (6 Terms), it becomes Rs 1,80,000 approx. There are scholarships present- A) Government of India Scholarships for ST and minority communities B) Institute Sponsored Scholarships for merit basis, need basis and need cum merit basis
Campus Life
The annual fest of IIM Kashipur occurs in January. It's a fun affair with lots of competitions and artists coming. Cultural events are organised throughout the year. Becoming part of a student body is also an enriching experience as you get to work for the betterment of the whole student community. Sports tournaments also keep happening, and there is a great competitive environment that prevails. I am a part of the Mess Committee, which runs the entire mess of the college end-to-end. It is a great learning experience or practical MBA experience as we get to run a whole enterprise on our own.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are great, well equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, geysers, clothes dryers, etc. Some hostels also have AC, while others have a radiant cooling system. The process of hostel allocation is very simple, you just have to go to the hostel office after admission.
Admission
I made it all the CAP colleges that come after the rankings of IIM Kashipur and also MDI Gurgaon HRM course. I chose IIM Kashipur because I had researched and found that the administration, gender ratio and placements were better than the rest. I did not choose MDI-HRM as I did not want to restrict the course composition of my MBA to Human Resources. The admission process comprises of a Personal Interview once clearing the cutoff requirement of CAP colleges through CAT examination.
Faculty
Faculty is great, approachable and helpful. They also keep bringing corporate and competitive opprotunities for the students and also help in bettering your performance in them, on approaching. Vaibhan Bhamoriya sir for economics department, AK Badhani for finance and Jimut sir for operations are my favourites. The exam structure has multiple components to make it more comprehensive and wieghtage of each component depends on the course outline and the faculty. The components typically include: 2 exams, 1 Project, 3-4 quizzes and Class Participation. The Marking sustem is percentile based amongst the whole batch.
Interview Experience
Yes, an interview. For these, revise your concepts of bachelor's degree, all the projects and contributions in your work experience and other co-curricular activities you have been part of throughout life.
Night Life
Night life is great. The campus timings are 10 pm but ne can easily get permission on email for night out stay. Due to locational advantage, you could go to many places like Ramnagar, Landour, Landsdowne etc
