What Students Say
Likes
- The environment- nice plantations and comparatively less pollution than the city.
- The classerooms- very big and futuristic classes with ACs and projectors
- The events- many events like TRYST for techfest, RDV for cultural fest.
Dislikes
- The language barriers- most of the people speak Hindi, so the assumed language of conversation is Hindi between TAs and students or sometimes Teachers too.
- Fast paced classes for slow learners compared to the toppers
- Larger classrooms suggests less interaction between students themselves as well as with teachers.
Course Curriculum Overview
I applied to the course without knowing the curriculum like any other JEE aspirant. There is OCS for internships and placements. The difficulty level of exams is high for an average student. The exams are not frequent but there are many overlapping assignment submissions. Too many.
Internships Opportunities
I have not recieved an internship . So I did a project under Rural development professor and went to a tribal village to know about their living. Instead of projects like this, we can also take technical projects under professors.
Placement Experience
This is one of the benifits of joining an IIT. Placements and internships are conducted by Office career services-OCS at IIT Delhi. The salaries are kinda low but the employability is good. Women get the jobs a little bit easier compared to Men due to the companies rule. I got placed but the salary is low. I am thinking to leave the job in 2 years and prepare for Civils exam to become an IAS officer.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is semester wise-104000/semester So for year it is 208000. This is the tution fees. The hostel fees is 8000/semester. Which means it is 16000 for a year. The mess fees is nearly 40000/semester but it may vary according to the nenu they have kept. This is for a normal student without reservations. Others candidates have a concession in the tution fee payment. Income less than 1 lakh per annum have no tution fee. Income between 1 to 5 lakh have 33333 as tution fee.
Campus Life
The club involvement is totally depends on ourselves. But there is some kind of partially of language in most of the clubs. There are clubs for literacy, tech, sports, dance and many more. There are many fests like TRYST for tech fest, RDV for cultural fest, SPORTECH for sports fest. They are good especially RDV.
Hostel Facilities
For a 2 person room there are 2 large cupboards with long doors, 2 shoe racks with doors and 2 additional open cupboards, 2 long mirrors, 2 study tables, 2 beds, 2 ceiling fans, 2 tubelights. The meal quality is average but depends on the person who made the menu. Each hostel has different nenu and chefs. Registration for mess is along with registration for the semester. In the E-scorner app we pay the fee for it.
Admission
I tried for Bombay IIT but I didn't pass the cutoff rank. The next best option is IIT Delhi. I also chose this because I also kind of want to prepare for civil services. So I thought I can prepare in delhi. The admissions are conducted by JOSAA.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio-1:15 Girls to boys ratio-1:4 The faculties are mostly approachable. I like Naveen garg. He is our department HOD and he takes good care of students academically and mentally. I don't like abhilash Jindal- less approachable teaching, difficult exams and ashish chiplunker- difficult exam papers Ther are mid semester exams and final exams.
Night Life
There are gyms in each hostel. There is a hockey ground, a football ground and a building for indoor sports. The grounds are large. The nlibrary is of 3 floors and it is quite large and is open from 9 am to 6 am. There are a few restaurants and fast food centres here and there in the campus. The campus is right in the middle of the city. It is near to airport and railway station.
