- The MGCL library is a home to various people who want to have good ambience for ambience. The environment is very clean there and facilities like ACs makes it a very good place for studying in summers.
Dislikes
- The academic teachers usually provide bookish knowledge without taking into consideration the involvement of students and making the class fun and engaging.
- There are less sports tournaments in a year and during sports fests only students can give there full time for training otherwise it will be very hard to dedicate you time to it.
- There are less holidays given to some specific festivals like Diwali, so students who have there hometown in a distant then they hardly are able to go there and celebrate.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Practical aspects and the faculty. The curriculum helps me to understand the mechanical company working and various industries. The teaching ratio and the other machine leaning course can be included. The exams are usually held after every 45 months on average and the courses are generally 5-7 in numbers
Internships Opportunities
There are various companis which onboards and and usually give oportunies to students and eventually gives full time opportunies t them to. There are intership opportunities offered too. Likes Mitacs and DAAD.
Placement Experience
After 6 semester students are eligible. Around 150+companies visited with offers over 500+. Highest package of 1crore and avaerage was 12lakhs in a profile ranging from Tech, meachinacal, civil and consulting. Around 75% students got placement. Just focussing on Job now.
Fees and Financial Aid
So there are 8 semesters in my course and each semester as a general candidate I have to pay 1,38,000 rupess which includes a tuition fees of 1,00,000 and the hostel fees of 30,000 rupees annually. There are other fees also like maintenence fees, library fees and gymkhana fees which have a total amount of about 6,000-8,000. For SC/ST candidates, they dont have to pay any tuition fees or other fees, they only pays the hostel and mess fees which comes to around 38,000. The EWS candidates have to pay the full amount at the start but they usually gets the amount back based on ther earning limit. For example, families with less than 5lakhs earning gets 2/3amount of tuition fees back and families with annual income less than 1lakh gets the full tuition fees back as scholarship.
Campus Life
There are 2-3 techincal and cultural fests like Thomso and cogni. The journals and books are accessible. The facilities are good. The sports and extracurricullars are very good There are numerous social groups
Hostel Facilities
the facilities were good and the mess food was very good. The breakfast was pretty good and the regestration usually happens with the college admission and the quality is better as compared to other places
Admission
I sat in councelling and applies for all top 7 IITs. I choose IIT Roorkee because it fall in my ranking criteria. No, I dint get rejection from other colleges apart from the counceling one. The admission process is simple usually submit personal documents. The eligibilty is clearing JEE Advanced with a good rank. The Cuttoffs for gerneral is around 100-120 marks in JEE Advanced.
Faculty
The Faculty ratio is 1:25, and ther faculty is very much approchable and quite helping. I liked Fluid dyanamics professor because he gave me so much time to understand that difficult subject. There are other good faculties of Solid dynamics and industrial management course. I din't like the machine design faculty not because of the Prof but due to my lack of interest in that subject. There are usully two exam in each semester called mid-terms and end-terms, the end terms are usually lengthy and hard. There are usually 2-3 students who fail to pass these exams and have to appear for repetitive test whcih are only held once. the course curriculum is relevant.
Night Life
There is a central gym with different timings to girls and boys. There are 13 hotels 4 girls and 9 boys. The timing are unlimited The Amul and MAC auditorium. There are good dancing and singing clubs too which people can participate.
