What Students Say
Likes
- Our college had a small garden inside its premises and I liked it the most.
- My college had a very friendly environment and I learnt many things during this time.
- There were excellent facilities in Math, Chemistry and Biology. I felt confident after I finished their classes and most faculties were friendly also.
Dislikes
- Placement was really poor. It was only for Computer Science honours students. We didn't get a chance to sit in a placement session.
- Infrastructure was average and there was no college field for sports.
- College election was very nasty as local people were also involved during that time.
Course Curriculum Overview
CBSH was only for science students and Chemistry was very good in this. To be honest, a relative referred me to study here and after thorough research I decided to join CBSH. The curriculum helps very much to pursue a future career. I can only say renovation in the Chemistry lab would very much be appreciated. Besides everything is alright in my opinion.
Placement Experience
Placement was really poor in CBSH. Only students honours like Computer Science got chance to sit in a placement session , which began from nearly the 2nd year half yearly exam. I know only two of the companies who visited my college and they were TCS and WIPRO. Highest package was around 2.5lakhs pa and average package was around 1.8- 2 lakhs pa. Only a few students got selected but not everyone joined. My plan was very simple which was to prepare for the Civil Services.
Fees and Financial Aid
The overall yearly fees in College of Basic Science and Humanities,OUAT for Chemistry honours was around16000 Indian rupees and Chemistry was not a self financed honours. But students having self financed subjects like Computer Science paid approximately double the fees than mine. Many students had applied for many scholarships and they also got their respective scholarships. But I had not applied for a single scholarship. I could have given the details of fee structure and scholarships but to be honest, I don't remember them all as I have completed my graduation there in 2016.
Campus Life
Our college organized Annual function, annual picnic, annual sports and many more festivals and events. Our college didn't have a library. So we had to go to the University library. Classroom facilities were average. There were different groups for different honours.
Admission
I also applied for BJB Autonomous College and I was unable to meet the cut-off. I got confirmed admission from CBSH , so I joined it. The admission process of CBSH includes form application, selection on the basis of marks and then the admission, which was very easy.
Faculty
The faculty-student rario was approximately 1:70. Most teachers were friendly and they also helped many students to do something greater good in life. One of them was Sirish sir who was very funny and everyone liked him and he was the best teacher in Mathematics I have ever seen. One of the teachers was Mohapatra sir who was also a serial actor and I didn't like him as he was very arrogant and fake. There were 2 exams in a year, one is half yearly and the other was annual and they were just like exams, not so easy, not so hard and most students passed with distinction..
Night Life
Night life was only active whenever there was a college event. Gym was absent. There was a canteen inside college premises. The hostel gate opened at 5.00 am closed at 11.00 pm. The locality was totally safe but college gate was closed for us after 5.00 pm.
Other Applied Colleges
BJB Autonomous College - [BJB] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Chemistry)
