B.J.B Autonomous College is one of the premier educational institutions of the State. It came into existence in 1957 through the initiative of the Government of Orissa. It is located over an area of 28.2 acres of land. It was an affiliated college of Utkal University till 1998. It has been functioning as an autonomous institution since 1999 following the conferment of autonomy by the UGC. The college was placed in Grade ‘A’ in 2004 after an assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
The college offers Undergraduate education with 16 different honours subjects leading to Bachelor of Arts, 9 honours subjects leading to Bachelor of Science and 1 honours subject leading to Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
3.1 How to Apply?
Apart from regular courses for the degree of Bachelor in Arts, Science and Commerce, some selected Self-Financing Courses have been introduced with the approval of the Government such as Master in Social Work, B.Sc. with Honours in Biotechnology and Computer Science as well as Diploma in Medicinal Plant Management. The BJB college offers B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com courses under various specializations at the postgraduate level. All these courses are offered for duration of three years. Games and Sports: The Institution has earned an equally excellent name in the field of sports. It bagged the University Championship in BasketBall and Cricket in 2007-08. Many students represented the University in the East Zone Inter University Cricket and BasketBall Tournaments. It has also a sprawling playground of 22,317 sq.mts., catering to both indoor and outdoor games and sports requirements of the students.
Hostel: There are four hostels for general category (boys and girls) as well as for SC/ST students which provide accommodations to the students Junior Hostel, Ladies Hostel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hostel, and General Hostel.
Computer Center: Though the College does not have a separate Computer Centre of its own, the facilities available through the joint collaboration of the College and the Computer Point are used by the Students and the Staff as when required. The Centre has a total number of 8 P.Cs and 1 Printer.
There is a post office on the campus, besides a canteen. The college has provision for NCC(Men/Women, Army wing/Air wing) and NSS( Boys & Girls). The Womens’ Cell of the college has been in operation since 2000-2001. It aims at protecting the dignity and rights of the women students. In accordance with the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, an Anti-Ragging Cell has been formed in the college.
The faculty strength of the college is 80. The members of the Faculty are highly qualified and involved in teaching and research. Most of them have research publications in Journals of International and National repute. Most of the teachers are invited as Resource Persons to UGC Refresher Courses and other prestigious academic or literary programmes. Some of the members of the Faculty are also well known creative writers of the state.

The cutoffs are based on your 12th marks and it can be starting from first cut off to the waiting list. usually the first and second cut offs are really high in between 88 to 85%. The animation process was really time taking and the classes started very late due to the admission process

The admission process is very simple. You just have to score good marks in your 12th board. The minimum percentage to get into this BJP University for the BJP autonomous college is to score above 80 at least. As the cut up marks for the first selection goes till 89% and the last cut off marks goes till 82 or 80 won so if you are not getting beyond it so there cannot be a selection for this college.

The whole admission process of based on the criteria of percentage and cutoff marking , there is no entrance exam for it , all you have to do is score good percentage and you can get and admission. For eligibility of the course in BA political science you must have a good amount of percentage in your 12th. The admission process was through SAMS . You have to apply CAF form in which you will get selected by the cut off in the merit list. This form comes after the boards exams result nearly around May - June . The application form is of 200? and you can apply for maximum 20 colleges . This application form is also for all the courses you want to apply. Generally the cut off in this goes from 85 and above for general category and relaxation for reservation category. This data may vary according to the number of students applied , their percentage in class 12 and class 10. According to 2023 data the last cutoff was 90% for unreserved category.

As I did bcom so in this course no entrance exam was conducted. Form(CAF) has to filled through the website dheodisha and on the basis of percentage list are prepared. Eligibility for this course was 12th pass from recognised university.

Eligibility to the course was 40 % above marks in 12 th can apply. Then their was an admission test consisting of aptitude, reasoning and English . The admission test easy enough. The cut off was 75% . Improvement can be done is the seat number should be increased.
