Remarks
The work culture is very intense at TERI. It's needs to be a little eased out with a few number of subjects as we are studying 8 subjects in a single semester. Therefore it becomes very clogged up and intense by the end of the semester.
Course Curriculum Overview
It's an interdisciplinary studies college. The main focus is on environmental problems and working on its conservation and sustainability. The course I am in had various subjects from Field research methodology to law and policy. It also has subjects like provisions of development which are very essential because in the times we are living, the institutions are controlling our day to day lives. It broadened my horizon towards various other aspects of our society and how it functions with its people, law and order and environment.
Internships Opportunities
It doesn't. The students have to look for the host organisations. Over the summer we have to go to a 2 month long internship. It's mandatory for my course. Proper information and guidance are given by the teachers which helps us decide for the host organisations. There's no stipend usually.
Placement Experience
Companies do come to hire freshers from college. The College has a well functional placement cell. MBA students have the best placements. It occurs in the last semester of the students in the months of January to may.
College Events
There are department fests conducted from the months of August to November. The annual event of teri is Climate Jamboree. It's a very grand scale event. Cultural nights are celebrated in diwali. It's not active in the months of January to may.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Expensive. As the college provides specialisations in varied fields and also conducts a field trip, the fee structure is expensive. For the course I am in , the total of 2 years sums up to 5 lakhs, including food and cost of transportation.
Fees and Financial Aid
HDFC Bank provides good loan plans for the students of the university. There's is not a lot of scope of scholarship in the college. HDFC provides moderately priced interest rates for the loans so that's another facility that can be availed.
Campus Life
Yes, there are many labs in the university. There are not many extra curricular activities in the college. The work culture in TERI University is very intense therefore there's not much of it here. There's a badminton court and a basketball court in the university.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are good in the college. This is also on the basis of merit. It's only available for the female students of the college. People from all walks of life come and live in this hostel. The food is good and nutritious.
Alumni/Alumna
Not really. There's no to less interaction although in the valedictorian event of the College, the alumnis interacted with us so that is helpful. The college can create clubs so the seniors and juniors interact.
Exam Structure
Minors of 20% ,50 of major exam , 10 percentage is given to class participation. It also varies for different subjects as there are core and audit courses. So it completely depends on that. The subjects have credits. Lesser credit, lesser no. of classes.
Admission
In June, every year an online entrance exam is conducted and within a span of 15 days the results are out and the selected students are put to the second round which is the interview. Then a good 30-45 minute interview is carried out which asks the student about the filed they come from and why they want to opt for a particular course provided by the university. Then on merit basis, the students are selected and who go through the interview get admitted to the university.
Faculty
The faculty is highly skilled with lots of grit and dedication for the students. The teachers are very accessible at all times. Debates, discussions, conference are a normal day at TERI and it's one of the best way to learn such varied topics.
