Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum includes the various niches of biotechnology mixed with the different aspects it holds power on, and the subjects are different in each semester. There is a variety of core, elective as well as audit courses which are compulsory for each student for a period of three semesters. The curriculum in a way prepares you for further academic persuits as the knowledge you gain while attending these lectures disguised as college classes can be directly applied while you sit for college placements/major projects. The areas of improvement could be slight modifications in the way of teaching of certain faculty members. The frequency of exams is too much and you almost get agitated with the number of exams that you have to give, especially in the first year.
Internships Opportunities
The number of comapnies arriving at the campus are limited, which include zomato and tcs, to name a few. The package offered is also like 12L per annum, and also varies according to the course that you are currently enrolled in. The internship opportunities are more in number as compared to placement opportunities.
Placement Experience
The placements of the college are mediocre if you judge on an overall basis. Good number of opportunities for are provided to the student body and students need to submit their cvs in order to be a part of the ongoing process. The campus placement companies include zomato, TCS, etc. The percentage of students getting a placement might be near to 60%. and if you are not able to get an internship from college side, then you are responsible for yourself and you need to look for one on your own :)
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure includes submitting fees per semester, which for my course was 75-80,000 per semester excluding the first semester as it includes some additional charges such as library fees and lab fees etc which would be refunded in your bank account once you complete the degree successfully. Also, an additional fees called examination fees (10k) has to be paid during the major exams every semester.
Campus Life
The annual fest AAHWAAN is a great deal among the student body and is celebrated with great pomp and show annualy in the month of november. The range and accessibility of books and journals available in the library is immense and does not lack any significant asset. The facilities and technological provisions in the classroom include internal heating/cooling system, PCs, and projectors which enhance the overall learning process for the student body. Sports is something which is taken very seriously on the campus, which is why we have a chess board, a carrom board, and a TT table situated in the canteen. There is also a badminton and a basketball court situated on the campus which acts as a source of recreation for the students. The TERI SAS portal is common for students and plays a vital role in the student life as it displays your attendance, marks obtained in the exams, internships selected for you and much more things.
Admission
I chose this college over other colleges as it has one of the best laboratories designed for the biotechnology world, and would come in handy for learning the required lab skills. The admission process includes submitting your scorecard for the respective competitive exam you gave and then wait for a validation from their side.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is balanced since not more than 40 students are enrolled per class, which makes the teachers very approachable if anybody wants to. The best faculties for biotechnology include rama sir, who believes in the overall betterment of the student body in terms of knowledge gained, and not just focusing on rot learning. athe worst faculty member in my pov would be Dr. Anandita singh, as she indulges in favouritism and groupism, rather than actually judging the student for what she is. She also sets a very different type of question paer which she believes is very practical in nature, but is actually stupid. The number of times that you need to give exams is 3, two minor exams and the final major exam. The minor exams hold 30% weightage whereas the major exam holds 40% weightage along with the continous evaluation criteria. They are in tune with the course curriculum and are cleared by almost everybody.
Night Life
college has a decent cafetaria and the labs and the library are opemn upto late hours. The hostel is available only for girls and is very safe and comfortable for the students. The campus timings are usually 10-3.
