Course Curriculum Overview :
Mechanical engineering has always been my passion as I have dreamt of being an Automotive Designer and Manufacturer. I don't know yet about the core subjects as I am in the first year of the course. We have mid semester and then end semester exams and in between the teachers takes tests monthly. The exams are not very difficult you could pass them if you are attentive in the class.
Internships Opportunities :
NIT Hamirpur offers various internship opportunities to its students. One such program is the "Vritika" summer internship, which is a short-term research internship/training under the SERB Accelerated Vigyan Programme . This program aims to provide opportunities to promising students from universities and colleges to get exposure and hands-on research skill developmental experiences.
Placement Experience :
NIT Hamirpur has an impressive placement record. For the year 2023, out of 952 eligible students, 690 were placed, achieving a placement rate of 72.65%. The highest salary package offered was a whopping INR 173 LPA, while the average salary stood at INR 7.54 LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Academic fees and lab fees for each semester is around 90000 and hostel fees per year is 50000. The books are available to everyone and are totally free of cost. Scholarships available for students less than 1Lakh income per year is 75000.
Campus Life :
The campus life over here is great if you don't get into drugs. The college has a great library over 80000 books. There are many sports clubs and a very large ground. Even in hostels we have badminton court and table tennis. There is a sports complex in our college. There are many societies within the campus which conducts various events, workshops and competitions throughout the year. Main societies are ISTE, SPEC, ROBOSOC and GDSC. The thing that I didn't liked is that there are many restrictions for the students in the first semester.
Hostel Facilities :
There are beds and windows for proper ventilation and almirahs and separate study tables for each student. There are various hostels within the campus, separate for first, second, third and final year and one for MTech students. The institute has a total of 12 hostels, with 8 for boys and 4 for girls, providing accommodation to students. The mess food quality is neither bad nor very good ... Overall it's acceptable l.
Admission :
This was the best college in which I was getting Mechanical in the Josaa counselling. I chose this college because of its placements and atmosphere of the campus. Other colleges which I was getting were NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala but they were very far away and it would be quite difficult for me to go to my home even in a week holiday. For getting admission you should have 75% in class 12th and you should cross the cutoff in the JEE MAINS .... The approximate cutoff for getting into Mechanical is 97 percentile.
Faculty :
The faculty to student ratio is 1:25. The faculties are very supportive as well as experienced and focus on each and every student and try their best to resolve their doubts. Faculties I liked --- Shubhpreet Mam(Engineering Physics professor), Deepak Sharma Sir(Mechanical engineering professor), Sohniya Mam(Engineering Mathematics Professor). They all are very well educated and experienced and supportive. We have mid semester exams and then end semester exams and in between teacher takes a test monthly to let students know their weak points. Exams are not very difficult, you could pass them if you are attentive in class and practicing and revising what you have been told.
