Students review on Bits Pilani, Hyderabad Campus

Dislikes

  • Far from the city but connectivity is fine.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum itself can provide an in depth knowledge of the field you are studying in. However grading is decently tough compared to other colleges and one has to put in serious effort to do well. Regular quizzes are conducted in most courses along with presentations in some and midsemester and endsemester evaluations in every course.

Internships Opportunities :

A lot of companies come to offer summer internships. The stipend varies from 50k to 3 lakhs depending on the company. Companies like rubrik, Google ,Amazon, De Shaw, Microsoft, Arcesium, etc all offer 1lakh+ stipends.

Placement Experience :

Placements are by far one of the best in the country. The placement percentage can lie anywhere from 75-100% depending on market conditions. All the dream companies like Amazon, Google, Apple, Microsoft etc. come for recruiting fresh talent from our campus.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The yearly fee for my course is around 3 lakhs per semester, which increases by almost 10% every year. Merit and Merit cum need basis scholarship are awarded in the range of 10-100%. The merit-cum need scholarship will be provided for as low as 6 cgpa.

Campus Life :

The fests held in Hyderabad campus are pearl(cultural), Atmos(technical) and Arena(sports). The Library in our campus is extensive. One can find any book they want in there. The infrastructure of the library is extremely good and during exams it is open as late as 4am in the morning. Sports are a huge part of BPHC , regular practices for the teams is held. People not in the team also play in the respective courts/grounds whenever they want as there is no in-time for hostels.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facility is decent. The older hostels are okay. New ones are great. The only downfall is lack of air conditioning in rooms, however, the common rooms are equipped with air conditioners. Hostel facility is compulsory for everyone. Mess food is decent.

Admission :

BITS Pilani has a name for itself not just in India but outside it as well. It has a very widespread alumni network, all of whom are very helpful. Since I started my jee preparations, BITS Pilani was the only college I was eager to get in to. Other colleges at its level (my friends study in, I get to know about these things from them) lack infrastructure and resources. The college administration doesn't focus on students. The only exam you can clear to enter into BITS is BITSAT. Respective state board toppers get admission into any course of their choice in BITS.

Faculty :

Faculty to student ratio is decent. Usually the faculties are very approachable whenever they have free time. Most of them allot chamber hours when the faculty can be approached for doubts and other things.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is rated as average . Because the relevance and comprehensiveness is not upto the level of students midset (like most of them). the curriculum and the speed of covering syllabus very fast which is not understandable for most of the students

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chosen computer science and engineering as my course. I enjoy coding and learning. This course gives the challenge to apply our ideas on real world applications. I choose skills over the marks because scoring only marks doesn't give a good placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course content provides sufficient exposure to required knowledge in the field though it is advisable to seek additional resources outside the course for better understanding. Coursework is not too hard and can be managed by the student.

Placement Experience:

Here, students can try for internships in the 3rd year. Some students who want to pursue higher education like MTech or MBA or PhD don't go for placements and internships. The placement rounds happen in the 4th year where many companies come to the campus, exams and interviews are conducted to shortlist students. For example, in my branch of civil engineering, the placement percentage last year was 50%, with the average package being around 14 lacs. Many companies come to the campus and the highest package last year was 90 lacs which was for a quant role. There are mostly companies coming for SDE and AI/ML roles. The number of companies coming for Consulting or product management roles is quite declining over the years. My plan is to try for placement in some Tech company, and work for some years then pursue a MBA.
