Course Curriculum Overview :

Most of the EEE courses are more focussed towards the numerical aspects of things rather than the theoretical aspects. Labs are well equippped and if correct electives are taken then they would be beneficial for real world applications and job interviews. The evaluatives are spread throughout the semester and are generally on the tougher side due to which the average is mostly less than 50% but it is somewhat compensated by relative grading.

Internships Opportunities :

Most of the good companies visit our college for internships including Google, Microsoft, Uber, AMD, ,Nvidia,JPMC etc. There are 3 internships out of which 2 are compulsory (Ps-1, Ps-2 and Summer Internships) . Ps-1 is mostly chill and just to get an idea of the corporate structure. Summer internships are not compulsory and comparatively not very eas to get.Mostly IT and electronics companies visit for summer internships and the PPO conversion rate is good. The roles offered in Ps-2 vary alot ranging from IT to finance to core electronics/mech.The Ppo conversion thrlugh ps-2 is decent.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for placements in the 7th or 8th semester depending on their choice and they do a compulsory internship (PS-2) in the other sem. Considering PS-2 conversions and normal placements about 95 percent of the students are placed (not considering current recession). The highest package is about 65 lpa given by Google Hardware (if I remember correctly) and the average is around 16 lpa.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The semester fee for each sem was around 300000 and combined with hostel fees and mess fees and everything else the overall fee was about 2500000.There are scholarships like Merit Scholarship i.e you get 40 percent or 100 percent tution fee waiver depending on your CGPA(>9.2 required). MCN scholarship is also there which you get if family income is less than about 13 lakhs. You just have to keep your CG above 6. Roughly 6-7.5 is 25% , 7.5-8.5 is 40 percent and above that is 80 percent.

Campus Life :

The campus life is generally very good. There are 2 major fests- Atmos is the technical fest held in last October or start November. Pearl is the cultural fest held in last March or start April. The budget of these fests exceed 1 crore so there are very good pro shows combined with a good mix of cultural and technical events. The footfall is also pretty good. Coming to the library, it is huge in size. The range of books and journals combined with digital access is good. The classrooms are also well equipped with all the modern tech and recorded lectures are also made available. There are many student run clubs. There is almost a club for anything you want. The sports facilities are also overall pretty good.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are huge in size with some of them housing about 600 people. The rooms are also mostly good in size and each room contains a whiteboard, table, chair and bed cot. The meals are decent in the mess and there are sufficient outlets inside the campus too. Hostel and Mess is compulsory for everyone and together they cost about 40000 a sem.

Admission :

I had a decent percentile in JEE Mains and got a decent rank in advanced too.In the Bitsat I got 278 marks. Apart from these I gave only the ComedK exam and got a good rank there (was getting Rv cse). From the jossaa counselling I got IIT BHU Mining. But considering the placements and overall environment of the colleges I chose BITS over them.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio is quite good and most of the profs are readily approachable. However the teaching quality is not very good. From the p.o.v of research there are some profs like Rajesh Kumar Tripathi who are very good and have a nice a H index as well. Coming to the evaluatives part, most of the course have a structure where Mids have about 30 percent weightage End Sem has 40 percent weightage. There are Quizzes (generally best 2 of 3) spread through out the sem which have about 20 percent weightage and the remaining is for projects/labs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chosen computer science and engineering as my course. I enjoy coding and learning. This course gives the challenge to apply our ideas on real world applications. I choose skills over the marks because scoring only marks doesn't give a good placement.

The course content provides sufficient exposure to required knowledge in the field though it is advisable to seek additional resources outside the course for better understanding. Coursework is not too hard and can be managed by the student.

Placement Experience:

Here, students can try for internships in the 3rd year. Some students who want to pursue higher education like MTech or MBA or PhD don't go for placements and internships. The placement rounds happen in the 4th year where many companies come to the campus, exams and interviews are conducted to shortlist students. For example, in my branch of civil engineering, the placement percentage last year was 50%, with the average package being around 14 lacs. Many companies come to the campus and the highest package last year was 90 lacs which was for a quant role. There are mostly companies coming for SDE and AI/ML roles. The number of companies coming for Consulting or product management roles is quite declining over the years. My plan is to try for placement in some Tech company, and work for some years then pursue a MBA.
