  • Other than the high fees, everything else is great.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have been very interested in mathematics from the start. That's what led me to choose the course. Of course, the placements are great too. The courses have been perfected by experienced and knowledgeable faculties over the last 60 years.

Placement Experience :

The placement is great. The average package is 30 lacs and the median is 30 lacs too. We have Practice School 1 and Practice School 2 which are basically internships, after 2nd and 3rd year respectively.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Not sure about the increase policy but I guess it's like 5% each year. Complete cost of education is about 35-40 lacs. There are various scholarships. Some are Merit Scholarships and Merit-cum-need Scholarships.

Campus Life :

Three fests are held. Waves is the cultural fest, held in the first semester of the year, in September. Quark is the technical fest, held in the second semester of the year, in February. Spree is the sports fest, also held in the second semester of the year, in April. The library is well equipped. Classrooms have a projector and two black boards each. There are lots of sports teams and opportunities to excel in extracurricular activities. There are lots of clubs and departments. Examples are: DoPy, the Department of Photography; FMaC, the Film Making Club; AeroD, The Aerodynamics Club; Kala, an arts club; Dance Club; fashion club; three different controls departments for each fests ; and many more.

Hostel Facilities :

In the hostel rooms, there's a bed, a cupboard, a whiteboard, a soft board, a table. The mess food is really good compared to all other hostels I have been (I have been in a hostel since second standard) Registration process is very smooth. The hostel is in campus. Living off campus is not allowed.

Admission :

Eligibility for not just the course but the college in general is 65+ in PCM each in 12th boards and 75+ aggregate in PCM. The application form is available on the BITS Pilani website. BITS Pilani has no caste reservations at all. However, there is direct entry to boards state toppers. Exams are held in two sessions every year. There have been recent improvements in the exam process. I think increasing the number of centres for the exam could be an improvement.

Faculty :

The faculty is great. They are very knowledgeable, all of them having a good amount of industry experience and having excelled in their respective fields. The faculty has a good approach to teaching a d we are all allotted a faculty mentor so that's helpful too. Teachers are very approachable.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The relevance and comprehensiveness of the curriculum are often evaluated based on factors like practical applications etc. A good curriculum should balance theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for the real world.

Placement Experience:

Students can sit for placements in their final year. Many companies visit the campus for hiring drives. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Rubrik, Uber etc. These are some of the biggest IT names in the industry. There are companies that come for corre recruitment too. The highest and average packages are kept confidential. But if rumours are to be trusted, the highest package domestic is around 80lpa Atlassian whereas the average is around 24L for IT and 17L overall. More than 90% of the batch gets placed usually. I plan to work in the IT industry for a while. After that, I plan to go for Masters's's in Business Administration. It is all a plan for now, nothing is set in stone.

Placement Experience:

Placements are one of the best in the country. There is a good mix of tech and nontech companies coming on campus. The Internship program helps you get immersed in the corporate culture and come out ready for the outer world.

Admission:

A student needs to qualify the entrance exam of CSIR or UGC NET JRF and also a person is having basic qualifications with sufficient training of 2-3 months is necessary. Then one can apply for the application online. I fitted in the first one, so I got selected for the interview round which happens only once in a year. Luckily I cleared that also and got an admission in the institute.

Placement Experience:

The institute gives opportunities for the graduates and post-graduates with internships in which they are allowed to carry out various projects related to oceanography. These internships are really beneficial for us to grow and get well-researched information of our own.

Remarks:

After coming to BITS Pilani, Goa and spending some time over here, I can rarely speak anything bad about this campus. Everyone here is very helpful especially the seniors. The campus is so big and so well maintained that is is the place I am very happy to be at, just to give an example, our Cricket ground is maintained by BCCI, our campus has a tie-up with IEEE, TEDx, Google and any more.
