The elite college

NS

Remarks :

The positives are Premier institute of India, Strong alumni network, Good placement statistics, Good faculty, Further research and learning opportunities, No reservation system, Negatives are The fee structure, The grading system.

Course Curriculum Overview :

2 main exams per semester, mid-semester and comprehensive. Then we have small quizzes, assignments and reports. The grading process is relative and non-numerical grading. There are units described for each course and the course is to be treated the same way.

Placement Experience :

The placement is very good, equivalent to most of the IIT's. Companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, oracle, Amazon, and other big and famous organisations come for placement. The selection rate is quite big, almost 90% and above students get placed at a decent organisation.

College Events :

3 main events, cultural festival, Waves, technical and management festival, Quark. The annual sports festival, Spree. Apart from it we have inter-hostel fest. Startup programs, technology incubator program, guidance programs, mentorship programs and many more things also.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It's quite expensive. Around 2-2.5 lac rupees per semester. Although, we do get scholarships when we do well in our academics, we still have to pay a lot when it come to monthly expenses as well as food and other stuff.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

MCN- The merit cum need scholarship is the scholarship scheme provided to us by our college. It considers students with poor financial status or good grades or both. The students can apply for this every semester and the amount of scholarship will be deducted from next semester fees.

Campus Life :

A well maintained cricket ground and football ground. All the latest sports facilities like tennis, billiards, squash and all of them. Labs for technical work like robotics project. Common rooms in every hostel with TV, carrom and TT table. Clubs and departments to keep the student active.

Hostel Facilities :

They are ok. The bathrooms are clean most of the time. Although there are power cuts, but they are for short durations only. Common rooms are there in every hostel with basic facilities like TV. Both single and double occupancy hostel rooms available.

Alumni/Alumna :

A very strong and deep alumni network, although I have not made much contact with the alumni, the seniors tell that the network is quite vast. The alumni's also help in our startup project. The alumni meet is a very integral part of our college. The seniors are very helpful and are always ready to help in every way possible.

Admission :

There is a an exam conducted all over India named BITSAT. People scoring above a certain cut-off in this exam are allowed to take admission in this college. This college is one of the most elite colleges of India. There is no reservation system in this college, as in other colleges of India. After getting the result, you have to submit a priority list containing the branch and campus of your choice. Them we have to report at the campus on a specific date and we get admitted.

Faculty :

The faculty is in general very good. Although I had some issues with the mathematics faculty initially, but now I think I am doing good. The faculties here are researchers and have different topics of research under them and have sound knowledge about them.

Placement Experience:

The placement is great. The average package is 30 lacs and the median is 30 lacs too. We have Practice School 1 and Practice School 2 which are basically internships, after 2nd and 3rd year respectively.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The relevance and comprehensiveness of the curriculum are often evaluated based on factors like practical applications etc. A good curriculum should balance theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for the real world.

Placement Experience:

Students can sit for placements in their final year. Many companies visit the campus for hiring drives. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Rubrik, Uber etc. These are some of the biggest IT names in the industry. There are companies that come for corre recruitment too. The highest and average packages are kept confidential. But if rumours are to be trusted, the highest package domestic is around 80lpa Atlassian whereas the average is around 24L for IT and 17L overall. More than 90% of the batch gets placed usually. I plan to work in the IT industry for a while. After that, I plan to go for Masters's's in Business Administration. It is all a plan for now, nothing is set in stone.

Placement Experience:

Placements are one of the best in the country. There is a good mix of tech and nontech companies coming on campus. The Internship program helps you get immersed in the corporate culture and come out ready for the outer world.

Admission:

A student needs to qualify the entrance exam of CSIR or UGC NET JRF and also a person is having basic qualifications with sufficient training of 2-3 months is necessary. Then one can apply for the application online. I fitted in the first one, so I got selected for the interview round which happens only once in a year. Luckily I cleared that also and got an admission in the institute.

Placement Experience:

The institute gives opportunities for the graduates and post-graduates with internships in which they are allowed to carry out various projects related to oceanography. These internships are really beneficial for us to grow and get well-researched information of our own.

After coming to BITS Pilani, Goa and spending some time over here, I can rarely speak anything bad about this campus. Everyone here is very helpful especially the seniors. The campus is so big and so well maintained that is is the place I am very happy to be at, just to give an example, our Cricket ground is maintained by BCCI, our campus has a tie-up with IEEE, TEDx, Google and any more.
