My BITS GOA experience

Dislikes

  • The grading system is a bit stricter when compared to other colleges making it hard to score a good grade with the same amount of hard work you will put in somewhere else.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The exams are very tough and are very hard to crack. Though many questions come from the pyq papers but still many a times make us question whether we have studied at all or not. There are still people who are actually scoring good though in the exams so it's not as if it's impossible but requires consistent efforts to ace the exams.

Internships Opportunities :

We are provided internships by BITS itself. There are two internships- one after 2nd year in summer break which is generally unpaid and one in our 4th year with one semester dedicated specially for paid internships. Many a times SIPs also land students jobs.

Placement Experience :

Campus placements are extremely good with CS placements always having an edge above others. Currently around 20lpa is the average package considering all the branches and campuses. Highest package goes till around 65-70 lpa.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is a consistent increase in the fee structure every year with current fees being around 30 lacs for 4 years for students who will be joining in 2024. We are also required to pay for the two internships that will be provided to us (one after 2nd yr in summer break and the other one in our 4th year). Merit cum need scholarships are also provided for people with week financial background (certain conditions are to be met). Students who have acted in BITSAT exams are also offered some scholarship.

Campus Life :

There are numerous clubs that enhances your overall development as a human being and creative person. It ranges from performing clubs to technical clubs and NGO. I am myself a part of various clubs and departments.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facility is extremely good for the 1st year students especially. With random allotment for the 1zt year students you are either allotted a double sharing room or a single occupancy room. From the 2nd year you are asked to choose a room on the online portal which are compulsorily single occupancy room. Mess facility is good but needs a lot of improvement in various sectors.

Admission :

Cutoffs in my admission year changed drastically as we were the first fully operational normal batch to have passed out 12th. Due to the increased number of droppers, our cutoffs skyrocketed in our year. Also, new aspirants should not expect them to go down shortly as the competition will keep on increasing every year. Campus changes even after registration based on cutoffs will keep on happening for the next 15 days after registration.

Faculty :

The faculty provided to us are extremely qualified, themselves being graduated from top colleges of India. The slides and curriculum set by them makes us test our capabilities and also pushes us to perform better in the exams.

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been quite decent and have had 100% placements in the past. The average comes to be a bit average but the highest package so far might be above 44LPA. The main branchea company hire students from are CSE ECE and EEE. The number of students getting placed from CSE and ECE are very good and have good salary packages around 10LPA

Once we are into final year, we can sit for the interviews and mind you placements at PCCE are amazing as a considerable number of IT companies come here for hiring. Wipro, Polaris, Happiest Minds, Nazara Technologies to German company Bosch have been consistent with their hiring from PCCE.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement of my college is great. The complanies that recruit from my college are from tech, core and finance. My college is a Tier 1 college so the placements are also in the upper strata. The overall avg package of campus is around 15 lakhs and avg package of CS department reaches 30 lakhs. 90% of the batch gets placed and the rest of the students either go for higher studies or start their own startup.
