Course Curriculum Overview :
I just completed 2nd year, so I feel like I don't have the best insights into the relevance of the curriculum. But seniors say it is appropriately relevant. As far as teaching methods, some teachers arebreally good. On the other hand, some are not so good. It varies form teacher to teacher.
Internships Opportunities :
We receive internships from Google, Sprinkler, etc for different roles like software intern. We also get interns in core in companies like HPCL. I myself have not done an internship yet. But my friend have, and they say that the TPC is extremely helpful.
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible from 7th semester. The placement is usually amazing with average CTC going as high as 27 lakhs INR (on campus). This year, however, it has dipped a bit because of recession. Still, we have had offers from companies like Atlacian, Sprinkler, BPCL, etc. Highest package so far is 57 Lakhs this year on campus. I plan on getting an MBA after the course.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tution fee has been 1 lakh per semester for quite some time, but offers relaxation based on family income and category status. I'm general category, so that means in total my education will cost about 12 lakhs for 4 years, including tuition fee, institute fee, Gymkhana fee, tution fee, etc. Scholarships are also provided.
Campus Life :
I have been very involved in the social life of IIT Patna. I have taken partnin fests and clubs both. I'm the fest coordinator for the upcoming edition of Celesta, the annual techno-management fest of IIT Patna. It will be held in October. The annual cultural fest is Anwesha, to be held around February next year. The annual sports fest is Infinito, to be held in October as well. The library offers a very extensive collection of academic books. As far as non-academic books go, the selection leaves a lot to be desired. Classooms are equipped with cameras, white and green boards, projectors, ACs, etc.
Hostel Facilities :
The room has a fan, two light bulbs, a patio. The washroom is the best part, which is well maintained. The meal is ok, but has a large scope of improvement. Menu is well distributed, catering to students from all states and cultural backgrounds.
Admission :
The only way to get into my course is qualifying JEE Advanced. First, you give JEE Mains, and then you give Advanced. Cutoff varies on the basis of category. The Mains isnconducted twice a year, while Advanced once a year. I don't remember the application fee, but it's minimal.
Faculty :
The faculty to student ratio is appropriate. Their credentials are amazing too, with professors who have completed doctorate from prestigious institutes around the world. But whether they are good at teaching is 50-50. Some are amazing, some are just reading slides.
