Remarks :
This College was established in 2008. Since then it has developed as per expectations. Actually, IIT Patna is situated near the Capital of state Bihar. Bihar is one of the most underdeveloped states of India. So the college has a negative impact of this on its growth. Otherwise, this college has a very good potential and very talented students in it. Depsite of negative factor of location it has developed better than other IITs established with it in 2008. This college will surely be one of the best colleges of India in upcoming 10-15 years. This college has all facilities for development of a student.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum was pretty awesome. But some common courses which are taught in other IITs were missing in my curriculum. One such course was Compiler design. Also, I got exposer of some new and trending fields of computer science such as Big Data Computing and BlockChain. Overall, course curriculum had a great balance between new and old fields of Computer Science.
Placement Experience :
Placements and job opportunities are very good in IIT Patna. I have also got a job from the Campus placement programme. Every year more than hundred companies visit campus for recruitment. Every year around 200 students apply for job thourough College's Training and Placement cell. Around 90% of students who applies for job gets places in good companies. Yes, some of the faculties of my college provide internship to students under their own guidance. I don't know about stipend offered for internship students because I did my internship out of the college.
College Events :
Nebula - Fresher's party Celesta - Technical Festival Anwesha - Technical and Cultural Festival Each festival held once in year. Nebula is organised by second year students of Undergraduate. And mainly performance are done by Freshers. Celesta is held at the end of September every year. In this festival students compete in many events with their technical models and prizes are given to winners also. Anwesha is held in the last week of January every year. It is inter college festival. It is biggest festival of IIT Patna. Teams from many Colleges participate in this event.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
IITs fee was hiked in 2016. IIT Tuition fee is 100000 every semester previously it was 45000 per semester. Apart from this, mess fee, Hostel fee and other small charges also collect. So, total fee is 120000 per semester approx. Total fee of one year is around 240000 INR. This fee is very expensive but fee is reduced for students whose parental income is low. So it becomes feasible.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
MCM is scholarship provided on the basis of parental income and CGPA. Minimum CGPA requirement is 6.5 for this scholarship. MCM can not be availed with any other scholarship. For General and OBC category students tuition fee is returned in this scholarship. For SC and ST category students Total fee is returned back.
Campus Life :
For extracurricular activities many Sports facilities are there such as basketball, volleyball, cricket, football, lawn tennis. Indoor games are also available in hostel such as Badminton, table tennis, carom are available. Common Television rooms are also available in hostels. Gym is also available in hostels. Also there is good gaming culture in college.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel room were very good and had enough space. Hostel rooms are shared between two students for first 3 years and then each student is given separate room. Rooms are cleaned regularly. Staying in hostel is compulsory for all students. Hostel rents are included with the fee of semester.
Alumni/Alumna :
IIT Patna has a good alumni network with hundreds of alumni working in good MNCs som are at good research institutes. They are very helpful. They guides us and sometimes they visit college campus and have talks with students. They also refer for jobs. There is no ragging culture in College. Seniors encourage to participate in all activities and college festivals.
Admission :
I took admission in IIT Patna in 2015. For taking admission into IITs, one has to qualify IIT-JEE exam, which I did in 2015. The exam had two stages. First stage was Jee-Mains exam. From Jee mains around 1, 50, 000 students qualified for second stage which was called JEE-Advanced. Then I qualified Jee Advanced exam. After qualifying both stages of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), I participated in counselling where I filled the list of my preference which included branches and college names. I was interested in computer science and technology so I gave priority to this at the time of counselling and I got selected for B.Tech. in computer science and technology at IIT Patna.
Faculty :
There were around 15 faculties in my college in Computer Science and Technology branch. Faculties were very interactive but there was a lack of experience in some of the newly joined faculties. Also, there were some highly experienced faculties too. I have also studied some faculties from Mathematics department, Humanities department also. Those faculties were very experienced and helping.
