- The Campus is very beautiful and mesmerizing. If you come here you are very lucky to see the most beautiful campus in India. It feels like you are in heaven.
- Placement is quite good here. I would say in terms of placement, it is better than IITB even.
Dislikes
- Faculty here are not that great. Most of the time, you have to labor hard and depend on yourself.
- The location of the college is screwed. Going to the city is a bit tasky so you donot have the option to visit the city frequently.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Multi-disciplinary course Energy Engineering is a mix of courses from mechanical, biotechnology, chemical and electrical which makes it a diverse course. A student can go in any of the related fields. Relevance Course structure and materials are good enough to train you well but for industrial applications (interns or placements), you still need to do a hustle other than your coursework. Improvement Methods The course could have been better if more focus is given to practical applications. Teaching methods can be better for some subjects. Difficulty of exams Other than midsem and endsem, some quizzes(internals) do happen and if studied well, they are not hard to score.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies do come to the campus to hire interns. But I would say it is a bit difficult to grab an intern if you are in a lower branch or don't have a very good skill. Most companies come for intern like Uber, google, microsoft and many more. They offer a good stipend varying from 10k to 2lakh per month. Even you have a chance of Research intern. IITG has collaborations with various universities throughout the world where you can go and intern.
Placement Experience :
Companies start to come for placements when you are in the third year of college and do come till the 4th year. You also have a chance for PPO if you have a good internship. For the details of placement, please refer to the official website and donot believe any third pary. You will get all details there how many offers made and what companies came etc. I am not very sure what to do after the degree, but I am inclined towards pursuing higher education.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fee 1 lakh per semester(6 months). Complete cost 11 lakhs for 4 years of bachelors. Scholarships SC/ST scholarship - Tuition is waved for such students i.e. 1 lakh per semester IMS scholarship - Every branch topper every year is awarded tuition fee waiver for that year Financial scholarship - *Below 1 lakh (pa) income - Tuiton fee waived completely *1 lakh to 5 lakh income - Tuition fee to be paid is 65k per semester.
Campus Life :
Fests Annual cultural fest is Alcheringa, Technical fest is Techniche and the sports fest is Spirit. Alcheringa is generally held in the month of Feb/March and Techniche is held in the month of Oct. All the fests are the largest in the NorthEast India. Library The library here is the largest in the NorthEast India. A wide range of books are available here. Classrooms All the classrooms are provided with AC. For teaching, there is a black (green/white) board, a projector, microphone and speaker system and almost everything a modern classroom should have. Sports Almost all the sports facilities are available here. Including equipments and coaches for all major sports like cricket, badminton, football, tennis, squash, basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, swimming etc. Student Clubs SWB is quite active here and helps students with their problems including academic supports by providing a mentor, intern and placement guide, balancing of academic and social life etc.
Hostel Facilities :
Room Overview Each room has a fan, an iron bed (Mattress is not provided), a table, a chair, a shelf, a wardrobe and a tubelight. In first two years, students are in double sharing rooms and get single rooms from third year onwards. Meal Mess quality is as usual like any other college. Not as great but they are eatable. Lunch is usually the same daily but they do provide varied breakfasts and dinners. On lunch and dinner, you always have the option of rice or chapatis, whatever you want to take. Also sambhar is present for the south Indians. Hostel Hostel registration is not the thing you have to worry about. As soon as you are alloted IITG after round 6 of JoSAA, you automatically get alloted the hostel. Hostel and mess fees is around 30k per semester.
Admission :
Eligibility Qualified JEE Advanced. Application Qualify JEE Mains and then give JEE Advanced. Secure a decent enough rank in it to get admission in IIT Guwahati. Application fees for JEE Mains is 650rs and for JEE Advanced is 2900rs (This was at my time in 2022, may have changed now). JEE Mains application comes out roughly in the month of Septemper and after JEE Mains result, JEE Advanced application comes in. Reservation Benefits Reserved Candidates get benefit here. Separate cutoffes of all the categories can be found at 'collegepravesh'. SC/ST students get fee rebate here, as they don't need to pay for the tuition fees, only the hostel and mess fess. Curriculum of my course Some quizzes(internals) do happen other than midsem and endsem and mostly are easy to score if studied well.
