Institution Review

Dislikes

  • The poor quality of labs and equipment available for experiment
  • The Providence of campus placement, scholarship and internship.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have a kin interest in electronic devices and sensors. So I have selected an electronic and communication course. It wasn't up to my expectations as it lack a lot in labs and proper teaching stuffs. But I can say that it is quite better in comparison of other institutions in this state. Laboratory equipments must be increased, as it is not sufficient in comparison of the student's study, specially for tv, radio, electromagnetic labs etc. And also including greater professor who are specialist that specific branch. Exam are fine.

Internships Opportunities :

Only a few internships are offer like NEILIT, Tripura University etc with no stipend provided, we need to arrange the internship by ourselves, college just provide us the the bonafide and LOR(letter of recommendation). Projects are to be done.

Placement Experience :

For the 8th sem campus placement is available, but for very fewer students like 1 for every 20 students. Vadanta, TCS companies comes with a package of around 8LPA. Highest package is 9.72LPA and on an average it's around 6LPA(this is also given to only a few students). Less than 10% students get the on campus placement. I will go for higher studies.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is not much hike in fee structure. The complete course fee in academic charges around Rs 50000 and for hostel it's around 120000. There is absolutely no scholarship for general boys, niether any financial help. Campus employment is very poor.

Campus Life :

The annual fests held in the month of November in the name of Racaf and Sonabyss and Tech fest held in month of April in the name of Sristi. There is large amount of books available from Every department of engineering branches like electronics, computer, mechanical, civil etc. We can borrow 5 books in each semester. Smart board is provided, proper number of desk and chairs, lighting. Badminton, Football, Volleyball, Chess equipments are provided. There is a social club for students known as SUN(student Union of NERIST)

Hostel Facilities :

2 students are being accomodate in one room with one bed, table and chair for each student. The meal quality is very much poor, in breakfast we get puri or Maggie whose quality is very oily, in lunch the dal is horrible, in dinner we get chicken or omlet someday, which quite edible. Registration is done during the time of academic admission with a fees of around 15000 for each semester. It's F block, Nerist

Admission :

I have taken an entrance exam known as NEE-1 for admission to this college. It didn't have any fixed cut-offs. I didn't like the reservation process. Here the eligibility is if any seat for any course is empty and the student has been selected by the college then they can opt for it. The application can be found on the NERIST website itself and there is a fee of Rs1000/- for general.

Placements of my college is average, as the location is remote only a limited number of companies visit for placement. - From seventh sem students become eligible for campus placements. - The highest package offered till now for on campus is 19lpa by C-Dot and average package is 8lpa. - Students getting placed differs from branch to branch , in cse almost every students gets placed who are eligible. - Also i am planning for M.tech if i do not get a good placement.

Placement Experience:

The placements are good so far and every year at least 80% of students get placed and the companies that come to give placements are mostly core companies. The average package every year is 8LPA. So I do have a plan to sit on placement.

Remarks:

It is the best technical College in our state and the course I took was good for developments in our state as it is an agriculture based state. Students from various parts of North East come here through entrance. Seats are there for all India students too.So NERIST is full of diversity in culture, caste and race.It provides B.tech,B.sc,MBA, M.tech,M.sc,P.hd program. The course I took was Agricultural Engineering. It was a much needed course in our state which directly depended its economy in agriculture.
