Student's Review On North Eastern Regional Institute Of Science And Technology - [NERIST], Itanagar

Remarks :

It is the best technical College in our state and the course I took was good for developments in our state as it is an agriculture based state. Students from various parts of North East come here through entrance. Seats are there for all India students too.So NERIST is full of diversity in culture, caste and race.It provides B.tech,B.sc,MBA, M.tech,M.sc,P.hd program. The course I took was Agricultural Engineering. It was a much needed course in our state which directly depended its economy in agriculture.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course syllabus for every semester is discussed by senior faculties in our University.Since the university is run by UGC and MHRD,so it follows what higher authorities gives order on academic syllabus. After completion of B.Tech 3rd year, all the students of all courses have to go on 1 month compulsory industrial training of their desired course in any technical institutes in any part of our country.Faculties in our Institute are not too good nor too bad.Since Iam from agriculture department so I would say our department lacks teachers. There is only 1 Food processing teacher and we had to suffer in this subject due to lack of teacher. But for others subjects we have good teachers.

Placement Experience :

Placements and job opportunities are very less in our institute. Not all the departments get the opportunities. Our department lacks in it. Placements in our institute is gowing below year by year. Our students are doing well but Something is lacking in our institute.

College Events :

Every year our university throw various fests and events.People from various other colleges comes and take part in it. The cultural fest is termed as Sonabyss which is held on last week of october. Many programs like dance competition, singing competition, drama, games, are held.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Our Institute doesn't offer any scholarships for any students. Students have to apply for central or state scholarships every year. Central scholraships like ishan uday, minorities scholarships, post metric scholarship and state scholarships include stipend. But the students who cleared GATE,ICAR do get scholarships.

Campus Life :

Our Institute have a wide campus in 2 places, both in Nirjuli. Hostels are provided with wi-fi. The size of our library is of two stored multi building with lift facilities, wifi facility.Labs in our Institute is not too good. Some machines are way too old to use for experiment and some machines don't even run well.

Hostel Facilities :

Yes, I have been staying in our hostel for 6 years. The infrastructure of our hostel is not too good since it was built in the time when NERIST was first established. But PG hostels of both girls and boys are in good condition since its new.Hostel fees include only mess fee of around 12000 per semester.
