Course Curriculum Overview :
IIITH is compared with the top 5 IITs. I was getting lower branches in IITs. So I prefer the ECE branch at IIITH. ECE is a combination of both software and hardware, which is why I like this branch. In every batch, we have 300 batchmates, out of which 220 are boys and 80 are girls. All the faculty are highly qualified in their fields, and they all have a very good background. Almost every faculty is a PHD scholar. Each month we have exams like quizzes, midsem and endsem. The exams were designed so that you could apply concepts.
Internships Opportunities :
Our college don't offer internships as it is Research based institute. We try for off-campus internships and as we have good project based courses and good coding culture at IIITH, we crack off-campus internships. Many B,Tech students who develops interest in research opt for B.Tech Honors.
Placement Experience :
Campus placements at IIITH are very good; that's why it is compared with top 5 IITs. The average package for CSE is 31 LPA and for ECE it is 29 LPA. From 7 semester on, students become eligible for campus placements. There are several big companies that came for placements like Microsoft, Google, Apple, Qualcomm, Sprinklr, etc. Highest package was 1.04 Cr last year. For CSE and ECE B.tech students, we have 100% students placement. I want to work as SDE for some years and later I'll see what I want to do.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
In the first year first semester I pay Rs 175000 as tution fees, and it increases by Rs 10000 per year. The mess and hostel fees combined total 80k-83k per year. There is an Alumni fund programme that provides financial assistance to eligible students. It's a pay-forward scheme where some alumni will pay your fees, and when you're capable enough, you'll pay some students fees at that time. We don't get jobs on campus.
Campus Life :
Life at IIITH is a little hectic; we get 2 assignments monthly, and in some courses, weekly assignments. At the end of each month, we have exams like quizes, midsem and endsem. So, we are having academic stuff all the time. But it's manageable and anyone can cope with it. We have Felicity as our annual techno-cultural fest. The library is not good. There are inter batch and inter house sports competitions, but we don't have separate ground for cricket and not good sports facility. There are around 25-30 clubs running by student bodies like ERC, E-Cell , TGC and all.
Hostel Facilities :
We are provided with double sharing rooms and there is no AC or coolers, you can buy coolers on your own. The Meal is good, we have 4 mess at IIITH, so you can change your meal to any mess any day if wou want. There is no such registration process for Hostel & Affordability. Hostels are mandatory, you cannot opt for a room or PG.
Admission :
I have given an entrance exam named SPEC. The SPEC mode is a Special Channel of Admission for B.Tech programmes. This channel is aimed at identifying talented students with challenging circumstances. The application form is available on the IIITH website. The application fees for this exam was Rs500 when I applied, but it increase to Rs 600 the next year. The application form usely comes out in the month of March and April. The Admission process was smooth; no changes were required.
