Likes

Fests, freshers- these are just great. Fests are highly reputed in our college.
Unity- Our college has strong unity which I like the most.
Faculty and teaching - the faculties are just great. They teach you in the best way.

Dislikes

Politics- our college is a political college and I am personally not a political girl. But otherwise its great.
Lights- well the lights are very poor since it's a old college.
Lab computers- lab computers need to repair in a proper way.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this college because as per media course, our college is the best that can provide good faculties and also good softwares which is essential for media. 70-80 students in the course. Qualification for the faculty is NET/ SET or PHD. After 6 months , semesters are to held.

Class Size: 1000Course Fees: INR 23000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees structure is nearly 23,750 for 1 year ( two semesters). Yes it's worth it because the quality of the laboratories and faculties we have that actually costs more that that . There are various scholarships available. But as it's under West Bengal government so Swami Vivekananda scholarship is the scholarship which students gets and for girls there is kanyashree.

Campus Life

There are various fests goes on in the college. We say our college is "12 mash e 13 porbon". We have winter carnival, freshers , teachers day celebration. Library in our college is just great. It contains all the essential books which students actually need.

Admission

Eligibility of the course is that you have to pass class 12 under any board that can be cbsc or cisce or west Bengal board with atleast 70+ marks. You can find the application form from website. Sc and OBC have reservation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

In Depth Asutosh College

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks

I have applied for Dinabandhu Andrews College and also New Alipore College for mathematics hons and I got selected for both the colleges and I started class in Dinabandhu Andrews College for few days but there the faculty used to talk in Bengali and the faculty members are not really good also the ambience so I applied in Asutosh College and I got selected too over there....so I shifted to Asutosh College, as I always wanted to persue this course from Asutosh College due to there faculty in this subject is really very good. I applied for Bangabashi college, Surendranath college, Vidyasagar college... but Asutosh College was my dream...because it is the best co-ed college for Psychology...that's why everyone who wants to study psychology literally craves for the department..I was also one of them..and I'm really grateful to God for helping me to get into this college. An honest opinion by a recent graduate

I applied to presidency, st. Xavier's, but as I was from Covid batch, I couldn't meet the required cutoff for those colleges. So yes I got rejection from them. Had I given my ISC board exams, I believe I'd have scored better marks, but hard luck :) I willingly chose this college over the other colleges of Calcutta University, considering this is the best. This college gets numerous applications, so it might be difficult to get the admission, but work upon your merit and connections. There's no entrance. You need to meet their eligibility criteria which keeps get changing, so refer to their website. Your merit will be considered. You must have a good network as well.
