Course Curriculum Overview

4

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hi there, the fee structure is as following:- The tuition fees/yearly - 600 Other fees - 3550 Total yearly - 4150 For other departments, i.e. B.Sc - 7250 (stats) 27600 (Computer Sc.) 7540 (Zoology) Asutosh College offers scholarships on both academic performance and financial need. The exact percentage or fee waiver (often ranging from partial to full tuition) can vary by year by year and individual circumstances. For example, the national scholarships may list schemes applicable too.

Campus Life

4

There were a lot cultural and sports events held throughout the year. Fests such as inter-college cultural fest, annual sports (krira) orientation and etc. There is a wide variety of books also in the library, you can choose from. There are various types of libraries also like, the Central library, Reading library, Centenary Building library and Seminar library. There is an e-library access also. The facilities in the college is at par with other colleges but there still is a room for improvement. There are regular tournaments in various sports like Football, Athletics, Table Tennis,Cricket and etc. There are many student led social groups and clubs.

Admission

I had applied to St. Xaviers University and as well as Amity University, and was accepted at both the places but because of the prestigious heritage of Asutosh College and its esteemed faculty of Mass Communication and Journalism, I chose this college. You can apply here by giving an entrance exam with minimum of 50% marks. And for the reserved category it's 40%.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is 7:40 Some teachers are nice, some teachers are not, like all colleges, but I wouldn't like to name any, specifically. There are 6 main semester exams, throughout the year and there are mid semester exams, along with internal exams held every semester. The exams are a little difficult, but definitely doable with proper teaching and studying. The curriculum syllabus is totally upto date.

Night Life

4

After classes people hangout outside the college for some time, but at night time it's not a very good area either. Inside the college, there is Indoor Gymnasium, Basketball Court and etc. They have hostels for both boys and girls also, but the available seats are insufficient to meet the current needs. There is some chai, and kochuri places around the college area.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Course Curriculum Overview:

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks
