Course Curriculum Overview :

Excellent and updated course syllabi, with revisions to the same every 10 years. The ECE course at IIITH follows a multidisciplinary routine, where courses also prepare you for CSE-related research along with ECE courses. Thus, you get a flavour of both while following one course. For the common courses, the faculty: student ratio is around 1:150. As the courses subdivide further, the ratio ranges from 1:30 to 1:15. Teaching Assistants are assigned for every course, and around 20-30 students are placed under 1 TA. The faculty here bear excellent academic records, with graduates from all over the world like Harvard, Stanford, IITs and CMU. Most often they are working on research projects at IIITH itself. There are mid-semester and end-semester exams, with two quizzes in between. The difficulty level is higher than most other college courses but is manageable.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships with Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Uber and more are offered. Summer internships are offered which are more common. This happens during the PPO, pre-placement offer drives. If one opts for a PPO, they may be ineligible for later placements.

Placement Experience :

A student is eligible for pre-placement offers in the third year and for placement drives in the final year. Some of the companies that have visited the college are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Flipkart, Qualcomm, IBM, Texas Instruments and Goldman Sachs. For ECE, the highest package offered was 47 LPA and the average was 29 LPA. The placement record of the college is 100%.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tution fee remains more or less constant at 360000 p.a. Living cost is approximately 7500 per month, IIITH being a fully-residential campus. The tution fee is higher than most colleges considering no funding from the government and the facilities on campus. A tuition-fee waiver of 25% for girl students is available. Any applicant can also avail of the SBI scholar loan scheme. A pay-it-forward scheme exists which is discussed on the official website. From the 3rd year onwards, one can apply for a TAship on campus with a stipend.

Campus Life :

The annual techno-cultural fest of IIITH, Felicity, is conducted every year at the beginning of the spring semester. The library here is well-stocked with books covering every course at the college, with reference books and multiple copies for issuing. Magazines and journals are available as well, which are regularly restocked. Being a library member also provides perks and several ebook accesses. The classrooms are well-lit and well-ventilated and have all teaching aids. Seminar halls are more ergonomic and well-equipped. Sports credits are a mandatory part of the coursework here; one can choose from PT, yoga, martial arts or any other sport. The active clubs council here ensures round-the-year club activities on campus, and the student life council hosts several talks and events. Clubs @IIITH: clubs.iiit.ac.in

Hostel Facilities :

One room is shared by two in the first two years; an option for a single room is provided in the third year. The room has a steel almirah, two steel cots, an open shelf, a chair and a drawer-equipped desk. The finish is minimalist. There are 4 messes on campus to choose from, each serving a different menu. One can register in advance for any combination of meals. The mess committee meets with the student parliament for updating/reviewing the menu. Some days the quality of food is competitive.

Admission :

Eligibility is JEE Main (for B.Tech.) The college provides other channels of admission as well, like DASA, SPEC, UGEE, Olympiads, and Boards. The cutoff for the JEE Main channel lies around the 99.7-99.98 percentile. For B.Tech in ECE, the cutoff this year (2023) was 4398 CRL rank. For CSE it was 1687. Application forms are to be found at the portal, available at IIITH admissions page during a specified window: ugadmissions.iiit.ac.in This year (2023) the applications opened somewhere in April and closed on 6 June. Initial application fee: Rs. 2000 (male), Rs. 1000 (female) (non-refundable). In case a seat is secured, the admission fee: Rs 10,000 (non-refundable). There are no reservation benefits, however, a 25% diversity pool is allocated for female candidates. They may also avail the tution fee waiver. Final reporting dates and induction schedule could have been disseminated better.

Remarks:

On my personal experience, I would say that college is very strict and they have closed gate that is not accpectable. Even they will not permit you to leave the campus without the permission from the required faculty.
